One thing is for sure, the liberals cant say this was government endorsed. I applaud these young men and women for standing up for their rights, and setting the example for others. The ACLU filed suit on behalf of one student who felt offended that a prayer would be included in their graduation ceremony. U.S. District Judge Joseph McKinley granted a temporary restraining order sought by a student. Here is how the students responded to the attempts to censor them.
The senior class at a southern Kentucky high school gave their response Friday night to a federal judges order banning prayer at commencement.
About 200 seniors stood during the principals opening remarks and began reciting the Lords Prayer, prompting a standing ovation from a standing-room only crowd at the Russell County High School gymnasium.
The thunderous applause drowned out the last part of the prayer.

PING!
"senior Megan Chapman said in her opening remarks that God had guided her since childhood."
YOU GO GIRL !
May this conduct spread. God go with them!
WoW!! God Bless those kids!! THAT's fantastic!! :o)
Good for them. I hope the students in TN do the same thing.
I don't mean to be argumentative, but I'm serious-what would we do if say...most of the senior class was muslim? Say, black muslim, that's more likely than mostly arabic. What if they mostly all stood up and prayed to Allah??
Or Gaia?
I'm happy because they honored our God, but what if the majority wanted to honor a false god?
There's a back side to this.
If someone attempted to ban Muslim kids from exercizing their faith on their own, then I would applaud them too when the stood up against it. False god or not, its freedom.

What's your point?
Who would stop a citizen from saying a prayer--until the ACLU came along?
Hells bells, when I was a kid if a speaker happened to be Jewish or Christian or Muslim and he offered a prayer no one fell down and went into convulsions-not even non believers.
We used to live in a place called America....
Exactly WTF do you think "freedom of speech" and "freedom of religion" mean?
OF COURSE THIS CUTS BOTH WAYS!
That's the whole point.
Government should NEVER silence anyone. This is the exact kind of speech that the founders intended to protect.
Christianity is part of the fabric of our civilization, which has been under tremendous attack. These kids may be symptomatic of the coming counter attack, which is long overdue! I do not care about muslims etc. Under our system those who are disturbed by our institutions are free to go.
Good for them. What;s the judge gonna do - jail 200 high school graduates?
Good luck with that one!!
So you are thinking that if we just shun our God that they will shun their's? The lions won't care what you had for dinner when they get hungry.
The proper response to objectionable speech is more speech, not restricting speech. I don't care if some kid wants to pray to a turd floating in the sewer. It isn't the government's place to tell him he can't.
We still do, but our freedom is only as strong as our resolve. When Christ comes back, he won't be looking for our medals; he'll be looking for our scars. The ACLU has cowed many people with threats of lawsuits and sniffing petulant lawyers on news shows. Time to push back.

Well and colorfully said!
"Time to push back."
It is well past time. And it is coming. But it won't be orderly for being so late.
