C-Span Live NOW: Sessions, Allard Raising "Budget Point of Order" Against Immigration Bill

I'm not an expert at this stuff, but I get the feeling this could be a big deal. Apparently this Point of Order is being raised by Senators Sessions and Allard and states that the massive budget and fiscal impact of this bill violates previous spending caps in existing law.
Good debate going on, Nelson (D) of Nebraska is on board too.
Unbelievably, Teddy is up right now saying this bill will REDUCE the deficit by $12 million a year! "You aren't considering what will be coming in!" (It would be hilarious if it weren't so tragic.) And yikes, Lindsay Graham is backing him up.
Senator Sessions said he plans to educate the American public - and his colleagues - about the costs associated with this bill. Should be quite informative...I hope it gets a lot of play. He's already stated there would be a $29 billion payout in EITC payments to illegals over the first few years.
GO Sessions!

Didn't know it was so easy to violate the Budget Act, eh? But then again, anarchy seems to be the order of the day as of late.

No. The budget point of order was raised. That could have stopped the bill in its tracks, so they had to vote to waive the budget resolution, in other words, bust the budget in order to continue with the immigration bill. So they voted to bust the budget (that they already approved) by a vote of 76-31

Still voting...but here's something to ponder:
Does John McCain EVER vote with Republicans on ANYTHING?
Listening just to the roll so far- and there's McCain..with Kennedy, Kerry...etc.

Ok, it was "approved" not defeated.
Bush and the lobbies have been working overtime in buying votes I suspect. MSM providing support demonizing opponents as rude, extremists, etc.

Hello,
Color me confused, would you or someone here explain what just happened? I ask because what I get is that a majority of the Senate voted that this crap must be passed, regardless of the impact on the budget. Did I get that right?

As I said, they won't vote to make tax cuts permanent. But they will vote to give illegal aliens billions of our tax dollars, our hard-earned money that's rightfully ours. That's brazen theft - never mind the fact they just busted the budget caps to make it happen. It shows where the Senate's priorities are.

Hello,
Heaven help us, if the House doesn't stand up to this, we are done. (And I am not a person to say that easily). What a Just Damn moment in our history...
