[Mark Steyn] Undocumented Status for All!
NRO ^ | 2006.05.26 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 05/26/2006 1:42:19 PM PDT by B-Chan

[Amother writer on NRO] is absolutely right - not the [post] on Sheena Easton, the one on immigration (though he's right on Sheena, too). But how about some of you natives piling on? I assumed NR's transplanted British Empire wallahs were steamed about this because we were foolish enough to check the wrong box and come here as legal immigrants - which, believe me, is a mistake I wouldn't make again. But this bill moves not just legal immigrants but U.S. citizens to the back of the bus.

The undocumented guys only have to pay taxes for any three out of the last five years? How come Americans can't get a deal like that? Meanwhile, any attempt to enforce the border requires "consultation" with Mexico. Vicente Fox has just got his own permanent Security Council veto in the Department of Homeland Security.

I think it's very hard for conservatives to support a Congress that would pass such a bill. Aside from the entitlement explosion and the national security issues, this bill is a cynical corruption of the integrity of US sovereignty and citizenship.

My wife and the kids had their Green Cards stolen the other day. Cost of replacement of legal permanent resident cards: $1,040. Fine for 20 years of law-breaking within the United States: $2,000, less Social Security and EITC entitlements. Hmm.

I told the missus to hold off filling in the form for the replacement card. Having been rendered inadvertently undocumented, she may at last be in the winning category.

This is THE issue for the 2006 elections. The only senators supporting this insult are not up for reelection this year. What corrupt, cowardly bums. Perhaps we can shake-out the crypto-liberals this time around.

Illegal aliens do not pay taxes without accountability.
40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are
working for cash and not paying taxes.

Illegal aliens rape and murder Americans without accountability.
95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Illegal aliens will inherit and bankrupt America.
Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien
Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare

Illegal aliens bring Americans infectious hepatitis,
incurable tuberculosis, typhoid, cholera, mumps,
Chagas disease, leprosy, incurable Morgellons disease, and Dengue fever. They deliver the diseases that Americans will not.

The 43rd Co-presidents of the USA

Another ringer is the "unalterable ID Card" for aliens. Since there is no such requirement for citizens, why not just throw it away, get a fake SSN, and pretend to be a citizen, just like before?

Since the govt is not enforcing current laws on immigration, knowingly and deliberately, only a fool would believe passing more laws will result in anything but more laws not being enforced.

The Dem's are for amnesty because millions of new Dem voters will put them back in power. The Repub's are for amnesty because they are idiots.

From your link:

An outstanding warrant is quite a different beast than a regular warrant, and there is no information on the total warrant situation. I think this could have been more clearly stated but it is correct.

An outstanding warrent, IIRC, means they screwed, jumped bail and went back to Ol' Mexico to brag about their exploits.

If he's not already on it, add Steyn to the list of unappeasable, xenophobic, "one-issue-wonder" whack jobs.

It's turning out to be a pretty big list ... given that the only people that care about illegal immigration are a few nutballs on FR.

Or so I hear.

The US Senate seem hell-bent to grease the skids to allow people who are here illegally and who don't file income tax forms to not only stay here (with the Blue Card program), but they make it easy to perform a "chain immigration", meaning that they can bring their family members, even other adult relatives along too!

On the flip side of this, if you are a US citizen and have managed to accumulate (after taxes) a few million dollars and decide you want to live elsewhere, just see what happens when you try to move out of the US!

You must get permission from the IRS to do so. Even if you don't earn a penny of US income, nor have a US employer, nor ever touch a US dollar again, you must continue to file US income tax forms. If you say enough and want to give up your US citizenship, Congress still claims the power to force you to report and pay taxes for another ten years.

What is wrong with this picture? Slide the illegals in, tax US Citizens to give them free healthcare and guarantee their Social Security, keep US-born Citizens as tax slaves. Land of the free? Don't bet on it. Land of the used-to-be-free.

I heard a tax accountant on the radio say that in South Carolina, over 400,000 people are employed using the SSN of 999-99-9999.

I wonder how small the pool of over-subscribed SSNs is in LA County.

The IRS can see all these SSNs when it receives the employer deposit payroll transmitals. Why has the Congress, the President and the MSM been silent about using the IRS to find employers who have obviously bogus employees.

America is not a place, it is a people, with a culture, a tradition and a set of laws. We could remake America easily, if you took the good people of this country and moved them to Brazil, Central Asia or Southern Africa. Unfortunately, all those places are taken. Where are we going to go if they give America to the third world and the socialists?

It has come to my attention that ALL members of the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE will participate in the conference on the immigation bill..

Our battle is not with the Senators who voted on the "Senate Version" on the bill....the two bill are "oceans" apart.. with the house version being a MUCH BETTER BILL !! our battle is with the Senators who will go to conference with house.. which I just found out will be ALL MEMBERS of the Judiciary Committee and then some additional Senators yet to be named by Reid and Frist !!!...

WE NEED TO LET THESE FOLKS KNOW that we SUPPORT THE HOUSE VERSION !! NOT THE SENATE VERSION !!! now get er done !!

---> for now we can focus our efforts on the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE MEMEBERS !!!

Arlen Specter Orrin G. Hatch Patrick J. Leahy Charles E. Grassley Edward M. Kennedy Jon Kyl Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Mike DeWine Hrbert Kohl Jeff Sessions Dianne Feinstein Lindsey Graham Russell D. Feingold John Cornyn Charles E. Schumer Sam Brownback Richard J. Durbin Tom Coburn

I have written an OPEN LETTER to the conferees and I encouge EVERYONE who cares about this to do the same.... feel free to copy/edit/distribute my letter..

I believe that we should move heaven and earth to have Recall petitions on all those not up for reelection or they will feel they have pulled it off. If all this goes through, and true citizenship has no meaning,I am going to need a doctor willing to sign my death certificate so I can live off the insurance and drop out of society. Hell, maybe we could start a new commune of drop outs. The best part is, being dead never stopped democrats from voting. ;-)

Illegal aliens will inherit and bankrupt America

Sorry, the Baby Boomers will beat them too it. There simply aren't enough illegal aliens on the dole to as there will be Baby Boomers. Where do you think the tens of trillions in unfunded liabilities on Uncle Sam's books are going? FDR's welfare program and America's demographics are going to bankrupt America. They can lower taxes and cut benefits, or get more workers in the U.S. legally paying taxes into the system. Recognize that and you'll see why the politicians are looking for ways to make millions of immigrants have legal status.

Because the hundreds of billions of dollars paid under bogus Social Security numbers helps reduce the deficit. link

"It is all thanks to the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act, which made it a crime for employers to knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

True, the law is a joke that is rarely enforced, and that should bother the law-and-order crowd more than it does. But by forcing employers to require Social Security cards – even bogus ones – IRCA did manage to rope illegal immigrants into the system. Last year, contributions by illegal immigrants made up about 10 percent of the Social Security surplus – the difference between what the system takes in and what it doles out.... According to the best estimates of the Social Security Administration, the fund has kept track over the last 20 years of more than $300 billion in total earnings – the vast majority of them attributable to illegal immigrants."
