Hows that for irony? The Quetzal was an Aztec god, in the form of a bird..
Good to hear. American individualism and independence still lives.
How long before Mexican soldiers from Grupo Beta come across at night and wreck the fence?
Good for them, and good for us! They are sure as hell doing more than those jackasses in Washington are doing. Every American is in their debt for they are the true patriots of today.
Patriot PING
How can we donate to this project?
How much would that be for the entire border?
San Wright (L), of Brunswick, Georgia, and Jack Pate, of El Sobrante, California, volunteers with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, run barbed wire along a fence line the group is building 50 feet from the U.S. border with Mexico on the San Jose Ranch in Palominas, Arizona, May 27, 2006. The group plans to build approximately 70 miles (113 km) of border fencing on private land in Arizona at a cost of nearly $55 million. Area ranchers are allowing the group to build the fence on their property to help keep undocumented immigrants who cross the border from encroaching on their land. REUTERS/Jeff Topping

"As of midweek, the group had raised about $225,000 for fence materials"
I support the Minutemen and know that most of this money came in small donations from patriots, many who don't have a lot, but...
Where are the wealthy conservatives? If this was a liberal cause Soros and his ilk would have donated millions. Aren't their wealthy consrvatives anymore? Are they too afraid of offending someone? I would think that a billionaire could go down in history by dropping $10 million or more in the cause of securing our border.
Are the wealthy all one-worlders?
bttt
Did they "consult" with the Mexican government first?
Now if we were in DC, this would be an embarrassment....most of the current crowd won't get it.
Bless the volunteers for this project.
"Scores of volunteers gathered at a remote ranch Saturday to help a civilian border-patrol group start building a short security fence in hopes of reducing illegal immigration from Mexico."
Bravo!!
This is a form of rebellion. And that is a GOOD thing.
Is this where I can send a donation?
BTTT
Chris Simcox kicked things off by introducing some very generous people.
First up, Colin Hanna of WeNeedaFence.com with a donation of $2,500 for materials. Another gent in the crowd who did not give his name added $500 in cash.
Then the jaw-dropper. Jim Campbell, a builder from Phoenix, gave us a check for $100,000. He is also rounding up like-minded friends to make even more donations. This came out of the blue and really rocked the crowd.
Next up, Al Garza, executive director of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. Al has his own fan club (for lack of a better word) down south as he happily goes head to head with the Mexican media in Spanish. Univision sent their usual crew to catch Al at his best.
Don Goldwater, with any luck our next governor, promised that if he does make it, Seriff Joe Arpaio up in Maricopa County will not be the only one running a tent city jail similar facilities will be here on the border and the inmates will be employed doing jobs Americans really dont want to do.
Congressman Steve King of Iowas 5th district gave what must have been a great speech judging from the applause, but I was too far away to hear it. We had a sudden visit from Grupo Beta a Mexican government organization charged with trying to protect migrants from banditos and such while they are still in Mexico. The five reporters who jumped the fence to interview them are breaking the laws of both countries.
Last, in the place of honor, Dr. Alan Keyes. Dont ever pass up a chance to hear this man speak. Hes like some throw-back to the Age of Enlightenment real thoughts, real ideas. No spin, no sound bites, no buzz words. I wish we could clone him.
The symbolism in this shot Chris Simcox, Colin Hanna, Don Goldwater, Steve King, and Alan Keyes raising a fence post sometimes I do manage to stand at the right place at the right time.
