With just five months to go before the midterm elections, President Bush, whose once-faithful base has abandoned him in droves, is turning to the same conservative hot-button issues that won him re-election in 2004 -- homosexual "marriage" and judicial nominees. The president, now fully aware that his plummeting approval ratings could cost the Republicans control of one or both congressional chambers in November, will use his radio address today and a speech Monday to push a constitutional amendment banning same-sex "marriage," just as the Senate prepares to vote on the issue. The crux of his argument is simple: A majority of Americans support the idea that marriage is exclusively between a man and a woman, and activist judges across the country are thwarting the will of the people.

I'm not ussually a fan of Michael Savage, but he is spot on when he emphasizes the need to safeguard our borders, language and culture. If Bush would pick up on the simple fact that we want an English speaking country with secure borders and our American culture preserved his approval numbers would still be near 50%. Gay marriage is a part of this, but it's only a small aspect of a bigger picture and Bush doesn't seem to see that bigger picture.
Probably about the same amount who voted in 2000 to go into Afganistan.
GEEESH, the problem hadn't presented itself, but I voted for Bush as he represented the Law and Order party and I expect the Law to be upheld when the problems become so big that they have to be dealt with.
Hint, hint the laws are already on the books.

George W. Bush has been and is today a dunce when it comes to the illegal alien invasion issue. If he allows 10's of millions more illegal or legal Mexicans in to the US because he had a Mexican nanny when he was a kid he is likely to be seen as the president that killed America.
The illegal alien invasion issue appears to be to him what "no new taxes" or "the checkout scanner" was to his father. As far as I'm concerned the queers (<1% of the population) can get married every day if they like if the president shuts down the borders and stops the decay and expense brought by allowing Vincente Fox and the owners of Mexico to dump their poorest and most wretched here. Mexico should be taking care of their folks, not us.
Maybe someone should just drive the president around Houston or most other cities in Texas so he can see what's happening. I see that Texas Gov. Rick Perry wants to put cameras on the border to show the Mexicans coing across. Heck, all he needs to do is put them on the freeways now.
I'm tired of being taxed to support these folks. Send them back to their own countries.
Well, I set out my 'appeasement' criteria three years ago and they haven't changed any. The bar I set was rather low too, and Pres. Bush has still managed to meet just one of them. This is what they were: (1) Keep the economy from falling into recession .. check! (2) Win the war in Iraq .. bzzt! (3) Secure the borders .. bzzt!
For every thousand base voters Bush alienates he's picking up at least ten illegal votes. While it's hard to understand that logic, it must make sense to GWB/Rove.
Why can't we secure our borders right NOW?
If his approval drops further he'll probably get more conservative, might even look at that house bill, or get out that pen.

Judges (Conservative/Constructionist) are VERY important. However, won't you concede that the Illegal Alien issue is AS important?
After all, if we end up with the Bush/Senate version, what kind of country will we have (If at all) in 20 - 30 years from now?
Furthermore, what to say its all or one or the other? WHY NOT BOTH? Or all three (reducing the size of gov't)? Or, 4 (cutting spending)? etc.
You know, none of this is a "Zero sum Game!"
Although homosexual marriage is deplorable, several million homos did not take over our streets and threaten the social order of the nation during the past several months: Illegal aliens did. In other words, we have a bigger problem than the homogenda.

Blame your congress people for not enacting the legislation you believe is correct. If he vetos a sound rational conservative bill then come talk to me until then you are just accepting and supporting the wedge issue that the Liberals drove in the conservative base...

There's nothing more important than conservative judicial appointments. And defense of religion and family are also vital.
Immigration is not first on my list. BUT . . . it's becoming more and more important as I watch Bush flout the will of the people, kick his base in the teeth, and refuse to do his duty to enforce our country's laws.
It's not only a question if immigration, it's also becoming an issue of whether the president is willing to sell out his country in return for donations from big business and factory farming.
He took an oath to uphold the laws of our country. It's time for him to realize that he cannot just throw that solemn oath of office into the garbage in return for campaign donations.
Just out of curiosity, my friend, what is your concept of the "right legislation?"
I also like and respect President Bush as a person, however, I am scared to death that if we don't secure our borders NOW (and it may already be too late) something terrible is going to happen.
