Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer have been complaining for a week now about an $80 million cutback in New York City's anti-terrorism funding by the Department of Homeland Security.
But it turns out that they both voted to make substantial cuts in the city's terrorism funding last year.
According to Newsday, the Democratic duo backed a $95 million cut last December in funding from the Centers for Disease Control for bioterrorism programs around the nation. Of that amount, approximately $3 million would have gone directly to New York City.
Mrs. Clinton and her Democratic co-hort actually wanted to cut bioterrorism funding even more. In October, they both backed a preliminary proposal that would have slashed the CDC grant by $123 million.
On Sunday, Sen. Schumer staged a press conference to complain about a proposed $7 million cut from the CDC in the city's bio-terror programs, saying it was like "rubbing salt in the wound" after DHS announced cutbacks in the city's terror funding last week.
But Schumer failed to mention his own votes in favor of cutting bioterror funding.
He told Newsday that he "stands by" his earlier decision to slash terror funding for the city, saying he did so because the cuts were attached to a bill that funded health care and education.
Sen. Clinton, who has launched a letter writing campaign to force a restoration of DHS's terrorism funding for New York, has had no comment on her own votes to back cuts in anti-terror programs.

this is so stupid, but if you know how budgets work in the real world you would know that they do not go up by a given percentage every year automatically like in government
imagine if you ran a fire station
you would not have to spend the same money every year
you may pay the same salaries every year but you would not have to buy new fire trucks every year so the buget should rise and fall

but how it works in congress is every year they increase a budget by say 7% then if Bush says no we are only going to need an increase of 4% this year the dems cry wahhhhh he cut the budget by 3%

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick and tired of tuning into FOX to see another liberalspeak jackass mouthing off against conservative values. Enough is enough. We need a real conservative TV news outlet. Conservatives made FOX as popular as it is and this is how we are rewarded.

All the while, the two of them kept squawking that NY first-responders weren't getting enough, and that it was because of the incompetence in the White House.
Sadly enough, the democrats are never told to clarify their remarks or answer a single follow up question. Journalists are lazy.
Well, I watched the interview and it was nothing but a smear job on Ken Blackwell. Kennedy is just another nasty DemocRAT looking to taken down a fine man.
