Despite a blizzard of negative press coverage, Ann Coulters new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism has surged all the way to No. 1 on Amazon.coms list of bestsellers -- just two days after its official publication. [Editors Note: Get Anns book much cheaper than Amazon! Go Here Now]
On Wednesday Hillary Clinton lashed out at Coulter for what she called her "vicious, mean-spirited attack on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the conservative television pundit described as "self-obsessed, and said Coulters book should have been called "heartless.
The media attack on Coulter began Tuesday with her first book interview on NBCs Today Show. Host Matt Lauer claimed that Coulter had cruelly criticized several 9/11 widows.
But criticism from the establishment media hasnt hurt sales of Coulters book at all.
In "Godless, Coulter argues that in addition to being a political movement and philosophy, liberalism is a twisted religion whose deity is itself and she details liberalisms war on traditional religion and God. All of Coulters previous books have also been New York Times bestsellers: "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must), "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism and "High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton.
And this is why I like her so much.....not many people can talk over those blowhards.
"How can we be persuasive if we allow our opponents to dictate the terms of debate?"
I never said that. I simply suggested we not sink into the sewer where they reside.
"The left does not hesitate to say the most outrageous lies. Ann's telling the blunt truth in a way that the left claims is not polite."
Let me get this right.
Because the left does not hesitate to say outrageous lies...then we are entitled to sink to a level that is beneath us?
Ann didn't tell the "blunt truth". She called people names like children do on the playground. She stated that widows were enjoying their husbands' deaths. She suggested these men were probably contemplating divorcing these women before they died (that one really makes me shake my head)
And then she suggested they hurry up and pose for Playboy.
Sometimes when I tell my 5 yr old son to apologize for being mean to another child he often will say something like "well they did it to me first"
I still make him apologize.
I have long admired conservatism because I have perceived it as being above this type of nonsense.
"After this week, the Fabulous Four are not going to have the same currency they had before Ann spoke out. It's going to be fresh on everyone's minds that there is such a thing as addiction to attention (celebrity), and these widows have been compensated more highly than other widows of violence."
That is what you think, and that is what you would like to think everyone else is thinking.
"The Politics of Victimhood has taken a body blow, and I'm nothing but cheerful about it."
Good for you.
I'll continue cheering on conservatives who remain above the cesspool.
I always get the audio. This time, it is only available abridged. I want the whole thing.
Which puts her right on the point of the spear!
Can't wait to read this one. I read "Treason" and "How To Talk To A Liberal," but I think this one will be her best. The cult of liberalism is indeed a religion, on par with radical Islam. I have no doubts she will expose and condemn it well!
Indeed!
Neat post. Thanks for writing this.
From what I have heard thus far, it will probably be her best work. Maybe we will be able to get contemporary liberalism listed as a cult now, or at least a hate group.
I haven't read it yet, but have it on order. She's a creative and entertaining writer, but I believe because of the content, and having read a few of her others, it will be her most effective. Just the times we are in, I suppose.
She is extreme only to her ideological enemiesand they are dangerous. Good for her to stand in the face of their storm.
First hard-back book I have bought in years. Happy to contribute.
get both! Hearing her read this herself is priceless....
heard this on her CD today :
" No one disputes that a monkey looks somewhat like a human ,
especially in the case of Al Franken..."
I love it ;^)
And maybe being courteous, being PC, will cause the loss of more lives of our American Military, the Iraqi Military, and the Iraqi citizens, and maybe American citizens.
Have you entertained your thoughts in this direction?
Truth?
I could say you enjoy the death of your closest family members and be just as truthful as Ann has been.
This is something nobody can prove about another person one way or the other, but it is in the very least a cruel hateful thing to say.
I love Ann Coulter but she was WRONG to say this. PERIOD.
She keeps warning what happens when we try to make nice with liberals--she wrote a whole book about it. Then you see people like Orrin Hatch boast of how much Ted Kennedy likes him (something TK won't say himself), and GB the Elder wants to adopt Bill Clinton. You get neocons wagging their tails because they want approval from "intellectuals".
You get this thing like a majority Republican Senate that wants desperately to sell conservatives down the river.
Critics of AC are frequently downright obscene and dangerous. The harridans on "View" threw around the word "bitch" several times. At least it's an exercise in imagination to call the Fab Four, the Jersey Ghouls "harpies."
I always get both. I love her dry wit.
David Brock started that rumor about Ann. He also says Laura Ingraham is a drunk and a coke head in his book....
I don't believe people are going to start believing Brock, a person who lied to himself his entire life
