Thank you for contacting me to share your views on immigration. This is an issue with strong feelings on both sides. I want you to know that I do not support illegal immigration, that I believe all persons should respect and honor our laws for admission to our country and I am grateful for the US Border Patrol and National Guard who regulate our borders to discourage lawbreakers.
However, the fact is that 12 million undocumented immigrants reside in the United States . This issue will not go away. We cannot turn our backs on the matter and must find some reasonable solution to addressing the issues raised by this many undocumented persons living amongst us.
Since his first year in office, President Bush made the implementation of a guest worker program a priority for his Presidency. It is his position, based on advice from law enforcement, that it is not possible to "round up" 12 million persons and deport them. I have to agree. Another means of addressing the illegal immigration issue must be found. Last December, the House Republican Leadership brought to the House Floor HR 4437. This bill would make anyone in the country illegally a felon, and criminalizes humanitarian aid and religious workers who provide assistance to the undocumented as well. It also calls for a wall along our border with Mexico .
The Senate Republican Leadership also agreed to address immigration reform this Congress. It passed S. 2611 on May 25, 2006. This bill has as its core a guest worker program for the agriculture industry and provides a path to citizenship for the current illegal aliens abiding in the country.
The House and Senate Conference Committee must reconcile the differences in this bill. I will support legislation that strikes a balance between American jobs, border safety and national security interests.

Poll after poll dictate that the public is against any type of guest worker program. Voters are sending a strong message. Rep Brian Bilbray beat Dem Francine Busby in a special House election in San Diego. Busby ran her campaign against political corruption, but many say that her support on the senate’s guest worker bill lead to her defeat. In May, Herndon, VA, voters unseated the mayor and two Town Council members who supported a day-labor center for immigrant workers, in the midst of the current immigration debate.
Yet the senate is determined to pass a bill compromise could that could triple our population growth by 2050. According to the National Research Council, current immigration policies will cause the population of the United States to be fully 80 million larger than without immigration. The Heritage Foundation predicts the bill could produce 55 million to 60 million poor and uneducated legal immigrants over the next 20 years. The National Research Council has estimated that the net fiscal cost ranges from $11 billion to $22 billion per year. How does this benefit America, Congressman Farr?
In 1986, conservatives supported the amnesty because the law carried new penalties for employers found to have hired illegals. It's exactly the same type of fraudulent deal that we're being offered now. But the public -- your voters -- are no longer fooled!
While it may be not be feasible to deport 12 million people, why doesn’t our government enforce the current laws, Congressman Farr? There are probably many businesses here in Monterey County who hire illegals -- you know, the jobs that teens and young people used to do (fast food, restaurants, construction, etc). If the incentives to come here were removed, wouldn’t a lot of illegals deport themselves, or am I missing something?
This compromise to House bill, HR-4437, is nothing but smoke-and-mirrors. I look forward to voting for your opponent, as this will surly put a stake in the heart of America as we know it!

Hey Congressman Farr, Mexico was able "round up" 12 million persons and deport them.
Dear Congressman Farr...that statement don't hunt, and will not deter those of us who are serious about seeing our borders secure and making sure that people here illegally and criminally are not rewarded for that behavior in any way.
With all due respect, here's a clue congressmen...take away the draws (social welfare, college tuition, anchor baby for illegals) and come down hard on the people illegally hiring these people and most of them will deport themselves.
In addition, let them know that if they do leave themselves, that we will give them positive consideration for future legal immigration after a mandatory background check and them meeting the requirements. If they do not, and we have to find them, then they will never be eligible.
If someone in a small town in Idaho can figure this out Congressman, I know you can. SO why aren;t you?

It doesn't seem that ANYONE is listening to the ones who pay the bills, vote individuals in and OUT, and they don't seem to care one iota what we think. Nobody thinks that millions can be rounded up in three weeks and booted out of here but we sure can let them round themselves up if we just fire the hired and don't hire those few who really want to work for what they steal from us citizens. Every time one walks in to the handout office, just say NO. They do get hungry don't they? Let them go home to eat and then apply legally to get back in.
I'm so angry about the political mentality in this country that sees the citizens as a bottomless pit. Are there no honest politicians? Then let's vote in non-politicians. After all, us good guys are still the vast majority. Surly there are those who would do a better job. First thing we need to do is return the Federal Government to the position to which it was intended. It's gotten so far out of hand no one can keep up with the crap.

Don't fed me or anyone else that SH*T! President Franklin D. Roosevelt, along with a bipartisn Congress, had no problem whatsoever of gathering up all the Japanese and relocating them. These Japanese were legal 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation U.S. citizens who had previously went through the lawfull way of entry and requirements needed to attain citizenship.
If you (government elected officials) can only do horrific things to our citizenry, you can sure as hell make the simple, ethical and moral decision to gather up law breaking illegals in this country and send them back to their respective countries. So stop the BULLSH*T and live up to the oath you took!
Sheesh. The gubermint must be supplying form letters to the legislature. I received my this-is-not-an-amnesty amnesty letter from Feinstein.

That was the MSM report, but the reality in Herndon was that the voters, in what is really now a Democrat town (60%) threw out a whole slate of pro-illegal candidates and replaced them with a full slate of candidates opposed to pandering to illegals. Besides the mayor (big lib) and the two deposed council members, three other new pro-illegal candidates finished at the bottom of the vote count.
Herndon elections are non-partisan, so it was not a Democrat/Republican split, but a pro-illegal vs. law-abiding division. The pro-illegal faction had all the media and the Washington Post on their side, and all the big money from big business, the Chamber of Commerce, the developers and contractors, LULAC and La Raza. They lost to a bunch of mostly unknown amateurs.
There is a lesson here for Republicans in the coming elections, but I am sure they are too obtuse and arrogant to get it. They think the voters of Herndon and California 50th are just too stupid. They will learn come November just how smart they are.
Vote out the RINOS and if you have to vote in a 3rd party, I know the arguments but voting 3rd party when there is no other choice will show them we mean business and I do not believe we will lose any seats this year, but we need to let them know what is coming if they continue to ignore their constituents.

Same here. Border security and sovereignty is my #1 issue when voting. I will not vote for any amnesty-supporting RINOs.
That being said, I take a particular interest in voting against liberal Democrats that support amnesty.

Yes, but they have been deporting them over 30 years, and I don't want to wait that long to deport them now. I want them gone tomorrow. All the government would have to do is cut off ALL free programs, end the anchor baby law, put employers who hire illegals in prison for a year and fine them $10K for each illegal they hire, and I bet you there would be a mass exodus! I can assure you that not one employer would have an illegal working for him before the ink was dry on that legislation. They'd 'deport' themselves when they couldn't get all the tax payer funded freebies!
