Rove: GOP Should Proudly Talk About Iraq
NewsMax ^ | 13 June 2006

White House adviser Karl Rove said Monday that Republicans facing midterm elections should campaign on the economy's strength and discuss the war in Iraq with no qualms.

"We have no excuses to make for it," Rove said during a fundraising dinner for New Hampshire Republicans. War supporters need not apologize for removing the threat of Saddam Hussein, and with so much work left to do, now is not the time to talk about leaving Iraq, he said.

Rove said Democrats pushing for the withdrawal of American troops should be the ones facing tough questions for wanting to "cut and run." He targeted Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, both Democrats and vocal supporters of getting out of Iraq.

"They are profoundly wrong," he said.

More than 400 people paid $100 to have dinner and hear Rove rally the faithful to work to retain Republican dominance in a state now viewed as a swing state in presidential elections. Dinner and a private reception with Rove cost $250.

Democrats won New Hampshire in three of the last four presidential elections - only narrowly losing in 2000. Also, Democrats have won four of the last five gubernatorial elections.

The shift at the top has raised hopes among Democrats and concerns among Republicans about eventual parity in the state House and Senate - long Republican bastions.

Some are concerned President Bush's poor approval ratings will hurt Republicans in state races this fall.

At an event last month, Rove blamed the war in Iraq for hurting Bush's job approval ratings in national polls. Rove said people like Bush but don't like the war.

About two dozen to three dozen protesters gathered Monday across the street from the Center of New Hampshire, where the event was being held. Democratic protesters said New Hampshire Republicans needed a big draw like Rove to help pay legal fees in a phone jamming case. Three GOP officials have been convicted of charges stemming from the jamming of Democratic get-out-the-vote lines on Election Day 2002.

"Americans don't like cheaters, these people cheated," said Herb Moyer, 60, a Democrat from Exeter. The sign he carried read, "Karl Rove and New Hampshire GOP: Where criminals congregate."

State Democrats have sued Republicans, partly to try to force disclosure of who among national GOP officials might have had knowledge of the plot. Republicans insist the operation was strictly local.

State GOP Chairman Wayne Semprini said Friday the party will use half or more of Monday's proceeds to help candidates this fall. The rest of the money will pay for operating expenses, including legal fees racked up defending the Democratic lawsuit.

1. Too little, too late, perhaps?
2. Immigration, Karl: get it through your thick head.

No Karl, it's those other subjects that are hurting your boss's ratings.

>>>"War supporters need not apologize for removing the threat of Saddam Hussein, and with so much work left to do, now is not the time to talk about leaving Iraq", he said.<<<

In this instance I completely agree with Rove.

I thought Karl would be addressing the issue of why he turned on the 'weather machine' so early.

Folks are already bitching about it.

Karl, will you step in and run the Senate for us? You are an oasis in a dry and thirsty land.

Amen, Amen, Amen. The White House needs to really do this. I think Tony Snow needs to go to Millblogging.com every day and look at what the men and women are writing about everyday on the frontlines in Afganistan and Iraq. Its incredible the progress we are making and how morale is so high. There are a ton of stories for the pickings.

For such a brilliant guy, you'd think he would have caught on by now. This tells me Karl isn't quite the sage some seem to think he is.

I agree with regard to Iraq, that goes without saying. When the comments suggested by Karl have been made though, it will leave a hell of a lot left unsaid.

And that will hurt your boss Karl. It's going to hurt the party as well.

Many years ago when I was in high school we had a dandy basketball coach, he worked his butt off, had a team that went to state finals placed second. All the team except one were juniors'. The old coach left that year and we had a new coach straight out of collage. The team took him to the state finals and the champion ship. the new coached stayed at the school until he retired and never produced another winning team. Thus you have Carl Rove, thinking amnesty is a sure fire winner.

Lets see Mr Rove we have an open border, and then the war you want us to support your boss has had every opportunity to take the chains off our boys who are in San Diego accused of murder for killing our enemy. Tell me why we should fight a war when our boys do their job and get stabbed in the back?

Let's look at the facts:

1. The Democrats and their Main Stream Media propaganda lying machine daily accuse US soldiers of atrocities and war crimes.
2. The Democrats and their Main Stream Media propaganda lying machine daily accuse the White House of criminal war mongering.
3. The Democrats and their Main Stream Media propaganda lying machine daily ignore the crimes against humanity committed daily by the islamofacists in Iraq and elsewhere.
3. In response, Karl "the Genius" Rove, says "we have nothing to apologize for in Iraq".
4. In response, Karl "the Genius" Rove, says absolutely nothing about the criminal collusion with the enemy by the Democrats and their Main Stream Media propaganda lying machine.
5. Karl "the Genius" Rove and The President come off looking weak. (Suprise)

It was said numerous times by many pundits and by the President himself.. The MSM paid more attention and wasted more ink on the vietamization of this war and the cut and run John Kerry/Murtha visions.

We need Republicans to not run from their records and stand strong in supporting the Iraq conflict. The media simply does not want us to hear the positives. I was encouraged a couple weeks ago when Roy Blunt and some other congressmen made a trip to Iraq to highlight the positive work our troops are doing there.
