ANN COULTER QUOTES FROM LENO
NoDNC.com Commentary ^

Posted on 06/14/2006 10:02:25 PM PDT by woodb01

I really got a kick out of watching Ann Coulter on her appearance with Jay Leno tonight. Not only was she her normally poised self, but she offered up several of her normally witty, biting commentary about the left. In the process I managed to capture a few of her really, really great comments. Watching the left self-destruct over a petit blonde who dares to stand up to them is just hilarious.

In opening her appearance on the Jay Leno show, Ann Coulter hit the left with a bombshell right out of the gate:

"From my perspective, I'm Dorothy, and I just dropped my house on the mainstream media!"

George Carlin seemed positively mesmerized by Ann and her wit. He just didn't know how to respond to her in person. Jay was polite and trying to press her a little on the issue of the Jersey Girls, Ann got in yet another of her signature backhands at the left noting:

"The funny thing is I'm calling Liberals Godless, well, there fine with that, just don't call say anything about the Jersey Girls."

Leno went on for a couple more minutes, actually doing a pretty good job promoting her book and asked her about the rise in tensions. After Ann noted that things were certainly much more civil when there were only three network news sources, and that things were even more "peaceful" in the Soviet Union with just one news outlet, she just let loose.

"This alleged disruption of civility is with Conservatives being able to talk back now, through the Internet, through radio, and now through television."

Leno spoke a moment about liberals attacking Ann, and asked if the contempt concerned her. In the most amazing display of polar opposite, as gentle as she was abrupt, she said

"I wear their contempt as a badge of honor!"

You forgot the part where all the Freepers in the audience cheered her on! I think she really appreciated the support in what might have been a land-mine laden situation! :-)

Ann was good. When she talked about more television was now available, she specifically mentioned Fox News. Also, she gave credit for the, "I wear their contempt as a badge of honor!", comment to its originator, Dan Quayle. There was some minor hissing in the beginning, but the audience was clearly packed in Ann's favor.

She was deferential to 69 year old George Carlin, and credited him a couple of times with being a rare intelligent liberal. Jay did try to get at her several times for her Jersey Girls comments, but he was not up to the task and did end up plugging the book. All in all, I'm glad I stayed up and watched.

Do buy the book. It has got to be killing the New York Times to list Ann as #1. Let's keep her there. I've already bought my copy from http://www.booksamillion.com/ which is far more friendly and doesn't push leftist causes as Amazon and Barnes & Noble do.

"I wear their contempt as a badge of honor!"

I smell a market for a new badge and I'll bet it would sell like hotcakes. Now for someone to design one. Hmmmm.

I thought Ann did rather well! Actually, I called this shot this afternoon. Carlin shut up, just like Disney/Pixar told him to do, and Leno was a good boy. My total surprise was the positive power of the Leno audience cheering Annie baby on. Methinks there are not too many people that want to directly take Ms. Coulter to task. Certainly "The Jersey Girls" are hiding in a Jersey outhouse somewhere, nowhere to be heard or seen. Talk about conviction!!! The Dem scum and vermin are going down!!!

That is awesome.

Thanks. I didn't see it. Busy with the boys.

I'm really glad Annie was Okay as far as security. I was a little worried about that.

You mean like the Pajama Patrol one? That came originally from liberal contempt as well.

"From my perspective, I'm Dorothy, and I just dropped my house on the mainstream media!"

Love that line! May she continue to Drop the House of Coulter on their pointy little heads. Would love to see her in a face off with shrillary. Would pay to see that, as a matter of fact.

I never knew Carlin was so wise. He kept his mouth shut while she was on.

She is a real Conservative, and I mostly agree with 99% of what she says. I just wouldnt want to be married to her (cue the sound of a leather whip amid much bitching..)

I'm not trying to throw cold water here.

There is a live thread you can reference and post on (before a half-dozen other live threads were created) on Coulter's Tonight Show visit.

It just gets irritating when someone makes a live thread and immediately there's a dozen other vanity threads about the same subject.

Flame away, I'm going to bed anyway....

Yeah, kind of like that. I know it would be a big seller, especially if it was in the shape of a donkey.

The Libs are clapping and saying, "Yeah, nice shtick Anne... You know you can really milk that market because there really isn't another one like you out there. God isn't showbiz great!" Anne screeches, "You Libs just don't get it do you!!! You are so superficial and shallow!!!!" Libs laughing, "Oh Anne that is GOOD, that is priceless... that sounds just like them, you deserve an Oscar, babe."

There are only specific outlets whose figures are counted initially toward the New York Time's Best Seller's list, especially in the first weeks. I know this sounds crazy and unfair, but true. One these major outlets is Barnes and Noble and then specific book stores in cities such Elliot Bay in Seattle (I believe), Powell's in Portland Oregon (definate) and usually only one or two a major city. This is critical in getting that initial hype out obviously based on those recorded figures. I believe Amazon is one as well.

So initially if you care to really get a book up there stick with the bookstores whose numbers are counted. I know this is crazy, but true. About now, I don't think it matters for Ann's book it has had all the hype it needs, but this is something to keep in mind for the future, especially with new and unknown conservative writers.

By the way this is also where you'll see writer's do their book signings during that critical time frame. This is no mistake.
