Looks like Houston is a mess and things could get a whole lot worse.
How is your part of town looking? Roads? Flooding?
We're in Pearland near where 1128 and 518 (Broadway) intersect. Our yard has a small amount of standing water but all looks well for now.
I'm beginning to think our house must've been built on some kind of ancient bait shop, or something.
You have a point, there. Though I HAVE seen some massive giant black ants. Hideous things. I think the whole state of Texas is sitting on a bait shop. There are some really strange creatures here.
Rove's already writing up the nasty-gram to Halliburton--the Right Wing Racist Hurricane Controller was aimed at New Orleans. Obviously, the sights are off.

It's hard to tell right now looking at the current radar, but the circulation has become much more disorganized and the center of this low appears to be west of Houston, perhaps by as much as 50 miles this morning.
The circular motion no longer is evident, and while there is still plenty of rain, it might be falling apart.
But there's plenty of convection already occurring offshore and daylight is still an hour away. Too soon to relax. All Texas gulf residents should remain wary.

Heavy rain is coming down from north Montgomery Co. to the Gulf all along I-45. We can take the rain here in Montgomery, but I am praying for Houston and surrounding areas.
Is this starting to look like Allison in '01? (I hope and pray not...)
It's pretty bad. Now that it's daytime here it's really firing up. The low looks like it's moved west of Houston to Colorado County, by my estimation, but it's dragging huge bands of training storms over Galveston and east of downtown.
Even Victoria looks like it's been pounded for the last 5 hours. Expect reports of flooding there.
The whole area from Corpus Christi to Beaumont is in trouble.
The good news is that it's not a downpour everywhere. I'd call it a drizzle at the moment in Katy. But there are heavy bands of red on the radar moving across the area.
Uneventful in the Galleria . . . a little overcast, with a little sun peeking out.
Got home in the rain. At least it is not as bad this morning as it was yesterday morning.
I didn't hear anybody on the news or anywhere mention that yesterday was Juneteenth. It's like it dropped off the Kalendar for this year. Not even to announce that the Jubilee was cancelled.
It is a bit reminiscent in the way it's hanging around day after day, but yesterday was the first big hit. It took a few days for Allison to escalate into a crisis. I bet you all wouldn't mind taking a few thundershowers off our hands right about now.
It's not as bad as yesterday YET.

Oh, I remember it well. I was in tears watching the coverage of people being rescued from their homes on that Saturday after the final deluge. I'm from west Houston and we only experienced some street flooding, but a couple of my co-workers actually lost their homes.
Yes, we could use a couple of those thunderstorms, but it simply doesn't ever rain this time of year in this neck of the woods.

THE KHGX 88D HAD BEEN DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB ON STORM TOTAL PRECIP FOR THIS HEAVY RAIN EVENT. YESTERDAY'S 8 TO 11 INCH BULLSEYE IN SOUTHEAST HOUSTON SHOWS UP NICELY ON THE STP AS WELL AS THIS MORNING'S 15 INCH RAINFALL TOTAL FROM ONE OF OUR COOP OBSERVERS IN MATAGORDA (SEE RTPHGX). CURRENTLY WATCHING AREAS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS WITH THE GREATEST CONCENTRATION ACROSS THE COASTAL COUNTIES.
THE STRONGEST ACTIVITY IS CURRENTLY IN EASTERN BRAZORIA COUNTY WHERE AROUND 2 INCH PER HOUR RAINFALL RATES WERE OCCURRING. THE CLUSTER ACROSS THE GALVESTON BAY AREA IS RAPIDLY WEAKENING WHILE ACTIVITY IN MATAGORDA BAY IS HOLDING
TOGETHER. IN THIS PATTERN...IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT WHERE FUTURE HEAVY RAINS MAY OCCUR AS WE WATCH A NUMBER OF STORM CLUSTERS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER. ALSO...ANY BREAKS IN THE CLOUD COVER THIS AFTERNOON COULD LEAD TO ADDITIONAL STORM DEVELOPMENT.
WILL STICK WITH OUR CURRENT RAINFALL FORECAST OF 1 TO 2 INCHES POSSIBLE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS WITH LOCALIZED 4 TO 6 INCH AMOUNTS POSSIBLE DUE TO TRAINING OR SLOW MOVING/STATIONARY STORMS.
BUT IN GENERAL...ANTICIPATE RAINFALL COVERAGE ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS TO PROBABLY DECREASE THIS AFTERNOON AND MOST LIKELY DECREASE TONIGHT.
BUT BEFORE THIS DECREASE ACTUALLY OCCURS AND WITH THE SLOW MOVING MIDLEVEL CIRCULATION STILL IN OUR AREA...WOULD PREFER TO KEEP THE FLOOD WATCH GOING AS PLANNED UNTIL 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON. 42/35
