NAMPA, Idaho (AP) -- The Nampa Public Library Board has decided not to remove a sexually explicit book -- The Joy of Gay Sex -- from library shelves.
Some residents wanted it banned because of its content.
Library Board Chairman Sharon Brooks says the issue is not about the contents of one book, but about whether individuals should be able to remove material they don't like from a public library.
In yesterday's meeting, the board did approve putting that book and about 60 other sexually oriented books on top shelves.
Bruce Skaug is the only library board trustee who wants the book banned.
He says he'd rather have his nine-year-old take up smoking than see the pictures in the book.

I am so sick of the wordsmithing of the liberals. No one talked about banning a book. They did talk about the usage of public funds in a public library to host such filth. If someone wants to buy the book for themselves in the privacy of their home, they are free to do so. So it is not banned.
But to think they can foist such material on all of us, using tax monies to do so, is another thing.

You wouldn't want to bend over and get them off the bottom shelf.

there's a lot of symbolism in that arrangement...

So how many people does a book have to offend before the Library gets rid of it? If a bunch of LIEBrals get together to get rid of Tom Clancy Books because it offends their delicate sensibilities, What about Vegans and Animal Farm, the KKK and To kill a Mockingbird? Is all this OK as well?

The non-wacky librarians have to hate these things. Pervs take them to the bathroom, return them soiled...

What would you expect from the The Nambla Public Library Board

Try telling Lefties that you believe that homosexuality should not be encouraged by society, purely from the standpoint of societal Darwinism. It really messes with their minds.

That same thought occurred to me. If someone wants to spend their own money on this garbage they are welcome to do so.
However, if it is ok to spend public monies on a gay sex book, is it equally ok for the library to spend public monies to acquire a Bible?
Oh, the conundrum!!

SafeLibraries.org's primary purpose revolves around children. This issue of the placement of The Joy of Gay Sex is not directly that issue. However, we can provide this information:
What appears to be good news for those wishing local control over libraries may only be temporary as we have observed the ALA orchestrates a massive misinformation campaign to reverse the results, just as they have over and over again.
Overland Park, Kansas, for example, where "age" was removed as a reason to allow children access to sexually inappropriate material, only to be replaced when the ALA revved up the troops and got them to attend local meetings. Local control. Right. Even the government officials promised to review the qualifications of library trustees more closely to ensure only those aligned with the agenda of the ALA were appointed.
So those town people ought to remain vigilant against the likely ALA assault, and when it comes, they ought to be prepared with the truth to counter the misinformation and the propaganda. Our web site is a great start for this. Please visit us at:

The article does say, however, that "He says he'd rather have his nine-year-old take up smoking than see the pictures in the book." So perhaps children are in fact able to access "The Joy of Gay Sex" in that public library. Does anyone know any more information about this?

I could go for every library having a section were any material of that type (sexually explicit) was placed. The adult section.
I think that would get rocks thrown at me from both sides.
Seeing who runs the libraries, it's no wonder that they have so many "left" books and so few "right" one.
