Why I Am a Republican (by Ben Stein)

...Karl Rove is why I am a Republican. He is how Republicans are...
The real Republicans are the hardware store owners in Little Rock, the factory workers in Kentucky who believe in life, the retired aerospace workers in Palm Desert who are concerned about the moral decay of the culture...
Real Republicans are not haters. Not ever. It's just not in them to hate, just as it's not in any real American to hate any other American who lives within the law...

He's been around celebrities and insiders far too long.

I guess that makes me a conservative, not a Republican. An increasingly important distinction. I should have just said that.

"...Karl Rove is why I am a Republican. He is how Republicans are..."
God help us.
"Washington, DC The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., announced today that former President Bill Clinton, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa are among the confirmed speakers for the upcoming NCLR Annual Conference which will be held July 8-11 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA."

He, Mr. Stein was on Cavouto last week saying Rummy had to go. So no surprise he is promoting McCain. There must be some serious money on Rummy's head!!!! So there are Republicans and then there are Conservatives.

The wearers of cloth coats. Those are Republicans, to me. The Republican Party is not really about ending the inheritance tax for billionaires. The real Republicans don't even know billionaires. (Most billionaires are Democrats, anyway.) The real Republicans are not about Iraq or the ABM. They are about loving their neighbors and wanting to pass on the same great America they knew as children to their grandchildren.Average Joe is a Republican

Why is a Democrat a Democrat?
Because outcomes should be equal, and if you just can't cut the mustard in skill, or intelligence, or persistence, or plain old elbow grease, then dammit, Government should intercede and make up the difference.

"He had me until he said McCain."
Well, he probably was speaking of him from personal acquaintance, too. If that's the case, I'd grant that he knows about him way more than I do.

Bravo, most excellent.
You forgot: I am a Democrat because I support full civil rights for all Americans, including Necro-Americans. Democrats do not believe that a person should lose their right to vote simply because they are viably-challenged.

Actually, I think he's right about the bureaucrats, most do work hard and don't make all that much, but it's not really their work ethic that's the problem. The real issue is that about 75% of them could have their jobs eliminated and afterwards the country better.
To: elmer fudd
Correction should read: "afterwards the country would do better."

Wow - Yale Law, an economist, and name recognition. Can we run this guy against Barbara Boxer in 2010?
