Dean: 'We're About to Enter the '60s Again'
CNSNews.com ^ | June 28, 2006 | Randy Hall

America is about to revisit one of the most turbulent decades in its history, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean told a religious conference in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. "We're about to enter the '60s again," Dean said, but he was not referring to the Vietnam War or racial tensions.

Dean said he is looking for "the age of enlightenment led by religious figures who want to greet Americans with a moral, uplifting vision."

"The problem is when we hit that '60s spot again, which I am optimistic we're about to hit, we have to make sure that we don't make the same mistakes," Dean added. See Video

Bush's statement" "If you're not with us, you're against us," could apply to at least some Democratic partisans, at least some of the time.

"We're about to enter the '60s again,"

Ah yes, the aging Baby Boomers' wet dream . . . instead of dying a peaceful death, crawling back into the womb. What a miserable generation of Americans.

Dean said. "I came in the back, and everybody was talking about praising the Lord, and I thought, 'I am home. Finally, a group of people who want to praise the Lord and help their fellow man just like Jesus did and just like Jesus taught.' Thank you so much for doing that for me."

is this really a quote from Dean???

These Godless souls trying to fit into the garb of a Christian is pathetic. They just don't know the language.

What was it Jesus said about such people? Something about not knowing them? Oh yes, In Matthew -

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven, On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.'" (Matthew 7:21-23).

These pseudo Christians don't realize they are crossing a boundary here. They are not just trying to fool mortal men here - They are trespassing on dangerous waters...without the power to walk on it.

Today's political scene isn't that much different from that of the 60s. The biggest difference is that the pigs these days are all calling themselves "democrats".

I never thought I'd agree with the screamer about anything, but if the latest offerings from Detroit are any indication, he isn't far from the truth.

As an aging boomer, he doesn't see that the conditions that made the 60s turbulent are missing now...;

"they are willing to tear the country apart to get power back. "

I guess they could conceivably gum things up a bit, but I don't think they could literally "tear the country apart".

Most of the problem comes from the MSM, which is losing credibility on a daily basis. Exactly what Dean is doing is trying to reinvoke the MSM's take on the Vietnam war, and do it all over again. Well, it seems really funny to me that the Vietnam war, and the current Iraq war are the two wars that have been anal-inspected by the press, and it two wars where no clear and decisive victories have been attained.

The administration and the pentegon are held hostage by a left-leaning press, who seek only to return the party of their choice back into power. What advantage the press has with a democratic regime is beyond me, except the fact that the dems might put a mint on their pillow each morning.

Howard Dean and Algore need matching straight jackets.

Re: "The problem is when we hit that '60s spot again, which we're about to hit

There's that magic word, "hit."

Since Dean is such a touchy-feely Dem, maybe he is talking about a powerhit.

One of the more intriguing techniques of smoking a joint is taking what is known as a powerhit. This is accomplished by having an accomplice surround the burning end of the joint with their mouth, taking care not to allow their skin to come into contact with the glowing end, and blowing while one takes a hit from the other end. This can be somewhat dicey, but is one of the more intimate ways of sharing a joint.
I can imagine Hill and Bill enjoyed powerhits.

Liberals WON the 60's and we've been trying to recover since.

Sad, but very true. How many millions were slaughtered after the left and their MSM allies compelled a US pullout in Vietnam? How much of the culture did the 60's hippies destroy?

The main reason that liberalism persists as a political ideology is that they inherently reserve the potential to use social disruption, civil unrest, and violence as part of their arsenal of tactics. The right has the same options, but they have effectively dismissed the thought of ever using force. When Dean and his buddies dream of reliving the 60's, that is part and parcel of the package. They talk of peace, love and morality with their mouths, but in their hands they have a big bad dog on a leash that's just waiting to be turned loose.

GOOD GRIEF! I was in high school in the late 60's, and in my estimation the WORST times were the 1970's. It was a hideous time to be a young adult. I was too young and insulated to know about the seamier side, until I went to college, and discovered I was born into the wrong generation, cause I just didn't get what they were so mad about.

Dean also stated that the Democratic Party helped give people "the opportunity to become middle class" during the 1960s.
Yeah, they GAVE them welfare, public housing, food stamps, health care, etc., and all paid for with our tax dollars.

Good Lord, reading that speech was like watching a ping-pong match: He's over here...now he's over here...oops, back again...nope, he's over there...back-forth-back-forth. No wonder the Dimocrats are wandering in the desert. Their leaders don't even know where they should stand.

Sometime around the year 2059, we'll all realize just how prescient Howard Dean was.
