Welcome to the Canteen Music Dedication!

We're here to provide entertainment for our Troops, Veterans, and their families!
To enjoy our dedication, you must have Flash installed on your computer. If you are interested in surfing or chatting while the jukeboxes are played, you can hold the CTRL key down while hitting the letter *N* on your keyboard. That should open a new window.

The Flash MP3 Player can be found here. Also, you will find out more about the man that created it. Thank you, Jeroen Wijering.

You must double click on the songs for many of the jukeboxes. Not all the music is appropriate for children. Please click with caution!

We welcome requests for our Troops via the thread, emailing us at musicrequests4u@gmail.com or by pinging laurenmarlowe on the thread!

We encourage everyone to support the artists and music that you hear in the Canteen, we have provided links for you on the left hand side.

An Atheist’s Point Of View

Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. —2 Timothy 1:13

Three young men who say they are atheists decided to “sample” and report on several churches in their city. One of these men said, “There is something other than teaching that is appealing to people. We didn’t see a lot of doctrine. . . . The appeal was mostly the community. The content in most churches isn’t nearly as important as the packaging.” The three atheists offered this explanation for why thousands of people in their area attend church each Sunday: The attraction stems more from a person’s Christian identity than from what the religion teaches.

Their experience agrees with the observation of author A. W. Tozer, who said, “Increasing numbers of [Christians] are becoming ashamed to be found unequivocally on the side of truth. They say they believe, but their beliefs have been so diluted as to be impossible of clear definition.”

The apostle Paul knew whom he believed, and he instructed Timothy to “hold fast” to the truth he had been taught (2 Timothy 1:12-13). We too need to hold tightly to our beliefs based on the unfailing, God-inspired Bible. What we believe about God is more crucial than any feeling we get by being in church. Tozer calls us to stand “firm on the Word of God that lives and abides forever.” Anne Cetas

Since by faith I have clear vision,
Your blest Word is rich and new;
Men with eyes by sin distorted
Cannot all its treasures view.  —Bosch

Don’t be a Christian in name only.

Greetings Canteeners it's time for the Friday Flyby. Tonights aircraft is the Grumman A6 Intruder. And no the Intruders claim to fame is not having a movie made about it :-)

First introduced to Naval Aviation in 1963 the Intruder was the Navy's go to aircraft for any weather low level attack duties for 34 years. The A6 made every conflict from Vietnam to Gulf War One. Not designed to fill a flashy role, the A-6 could haul a boatload of ordanance in any weather and deliver it with pinpoint accuarcy to boot.

On with the pics...

First up the nose shot, only this time the A-6 is on the catapult and on the way...

A nice inflite study of an A-6 from VA-36 on the USS Nimitz

Another inflite shot of an Intruder

A pair of A-6s make a pass for the photographers

Did I mention that the A-6 was a bomber? Check out the ordance on this Intruder, looks like a load to rival the B-17!

And if you are running low on the ol' jet fuel it's nice to know that the A-6 can help you out.

Well that it for tonights Flyby back tomorrow with the Saturday Sortie.

Regards

Oh, my! Schoolhouse Rock!! I grew up with those. I remember when Multiplaction Rock was the only one there was.

You couldn't make those today. For one thing, they'd all be rap. For another, they tried with "Money Rock" and it was horrible.

And, finally, could you picture any network airing a song about Noah's Ark?
