Now that's a good question: what are the implications when a man's heart is transplated into a woman or vice versa?

And it is fascinating that the brains of males and females are the *least* different among the organs.

I have no idea how to respond, so here is that photo of a really nerdy, but incredibly cute girl from earlier today. :O)

It does have real implication...but you know, humour just takes over some people...irresistable.

I do know that transplant organs "degrade" for want of a better word, over time. You have to wonder if making it same sex would extend the time that the transplant recipient has.

"The smallest differences were in brain tissue, they found."

The study deals with MICE. Mouse brains and human brains are quite different -- or so it would seem.

The article says that the gender effects the animals' organs. Note that gender originally was a linguistic term. Feminists encouraged its use instead of sex, to make the point that male-female differences were just "social constructs." They regarded social constructs as trivial. (I think that some social constructs are pretty import, like literacy, for example.)

Anyway, mice don't have "social constructs" in the way humans do, so when the article refers to their gender, just what are we talking about? It appears that the best efforts of the feminists have been defeated by a liguistic shift in the meaning of the work gender, such that to many the word gender means what sex used to mean. Well, in some usages: for example, I have seen forms which want me to check off my gender.

To straighten all this out, I would suggest that we go back to referring to male and female as being sexes, not genders. Gender is a special linguistic term not quite the same as sex.

OK why do we pay these swellheads to do research thats explains the Obvious ?
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Because it isn't obvious to the left or the feminists. This is big news to people whose bible was written by Betty Friedan.

"We didn't expect that. No one has previously demonstrated this genetic gender gap at such high levels."

I imagine that there's a whole lot of stuff they didn't and haven't expected.

This does have real implications in medical practice - things like how women respond to drugs differently than men, how organs handle functions differently.

I have a friend who was doing his research on gender differences in cardiac function and response to different types of medication. Certain drugs had opposite effects depending on the gender.

You're too caught up in the confusion created by the feminists. In the case of scientific research into gender differences based on genetics, gender simply means the difference between male and female. By the way "effects" does not equal "affects".

I guess we now have objective proof that egalitarianism is a stupidity.

Even better, what if the differences turn out to be not-so-stark in certain, er, groups?

And they need tests on both men and women for these, not just men.

Maybe having quantified what is going on, it will become more of an issue.

I heard somewhere that some scientists supposedly discovered that genetically there is more difference between a man and a woman than there is between a man and a monkey. I'm not a feminist by any means and I don't believe that we descended from apes. Been married to the same man for 26 years. Makes sense to me. No offense guys. We're just very different.

A woman is not a female man. And those who want to be often get all twisted inside.

I can do many things that men can do, such as carpentry work, laying tile, electrical work, plumbing, drive a school bus, helping my husband do masonry work, etc. Sometimes, though, at the end of a hard day all that I want to do is go home and put on a dress.

Whenever women have insisted on absolute equality with men, they have invariably wound up with the dirty end of the stick.
What they are and what they can do makes them superior to men, and their proper tactic is to demand special privileges, all the traffic will bear.
They should never settle merely for equality. For women, "equality" is a disaster.
