"I could be wrong about this, but I am/was under the impression that this group was started by somebody else, but that Simcox has "taken over" the role as their spokesperson."

Wasn't it Jim Gilchrist? Maybe? I don't know.

Goes to show you should be more careful in selection where you're going to hold your national referendum...you avoid being so thoroughly humiliated.

Maybe, but my problem is who is reporting. Most of these minutemen and women seem to be fine patriots. I would like to hear what they have to say. If hanky panky is going on, I suspect they will correct things. I really have considered supporting or joining but have been checking things out. I'm kind of caught in the middle though. A lot of the illegals are good people, trying to make a living but they are breaking the law and draining tax payers. They need to go home and do things right but would I have done anything differently if I were in their shoes? It's the governments job to keep them in Mexico but .... That's why this group caught my attention. At least someone was doing something. If true as Howlin said, sad.

No, it was a joint effort between Simcox and Gilchrist. Simcox had his Arizona Militia that declared unilateral war on Mexico and Gilchrist had some other podunk group. They got together and formed the Minutemen. Gilchrist and Simcox are rarely at the same place. I don't think they see eye to eye on much.

"I found the pro-illegal mayor and her cohorts in the Herndon, Virginia city council getting thrown out pretty funny myself."

Yep, that sure did grab national attention...it totally over shadowed the national referendum in Utah.

That isn't up to me, it's up to the MM and their accountants.

You know, that whole pesky evidence thingy again.

But I suppose there's nothing like a good old fashioned rush to judgement is there.

But by all means do continue. I love it when people around here give credibility to ABC. I mean they've done soooo much to earn it of late.

Like I said, maybe they'll come up with some National Guard documents showing the President shot a Girl Scout or something.

That Keyes sure gets around. By bus.

Ah, but it gives you the chance to come on these threads and pontificate as usual, doesn't it?

You make my point. You highjack a thread (or create one) and then try to run all opposing viewpoints off of it with your usual elitist we Bots are better than conservatives rap and vastly more intelligent and we know better than you do what's right for the American "people". You don't.

"you avoid being so thoroughly humiliated."

I guess she wasn't aware 56% of an entrenched and better funded incumbent is so good.

(sarcasm)

See the link on #135...the volunteers are talking, just like they did in this report.

Apparently that whole 'wait for some real evidence and not some reporters assertions' thingy has gone out the window around here of late. Who knows, maybe this reporter went to the Dan Rather school of journalism.

The waiting-for-real-evidence thingy went out the window a long time ago on the illegal immigration threads. The irony is that some of those same people will now complain about it with this report.

Perhaps we could both use some enlightenment on this. Either way, he must disclose his finances since he's accepting contributions from the public.

Yes. What was the name of his organization?

He's been "sidelined" by Simcox.

You should tell Tancredo and the buchanan's that. They're the one's who picked it for their national referendum on immigration. Kind of blew up in their faces...if only they had known what you do.

If ABC asked to look at my books I would tell them to go pound sand. That said, they need to be open for the members.

"Yep, that sure did grab national attention..."

Actually it did. Probably more than in Utah. It was talked about on CNN, Fox News, the New York Times, the Washington Post, everywhere. There was a pretty big controversy over a day labor camp for illegal immigrants.

It made headlines around the nation when it first happened and before, during and after the election.

a goodly number of illegals have been made to walk around the end of it since they didn't bring their wire cutters....

They don't know how to slip between the wires of a barbed wire fence?

I haven't seen many cows who could, but most dogs & people I know can figure it out.

The Bilbray win was considered by the MSM and Pols as the same, a national referendum on immigration. Bilbray won.
