Child proofing weaponry...
19-July-2006 | Ron Pickrell

The world stretches, throws the bed covers off, and heads towards the coffeepot. But this is a different sort of morning.

The Drudge report details the shock of the New York Times upon the discovery that Iran furnished sophisticated anti-ship missiles to their surrogates in Hizbollah, and trained them to use them.

The Iranians calculated that even if their training crews were there to coach the terrorists, that the world would hand them a pass, as long as a surrogate finger was on the launch button.

This is the same Iran which now seeks to extend their product catalogue for terrorists to include nuclear weapons. Unlike Iraq, with it's idea of doing exactly the same, only with chemical and biological weapons, once they had gotten rid of the pesky inspectors, Iran instead decided to go for the glow. A better world through fission.

Suddenly those NYT pundits who could not wrap their heads around an Iraq which wanted to cause megadeaths in the United States, but could not afford to have a Baghdad return address on the package... are beginning to see in Iran exactly what conservatives tried to patiently explain to them.

It is the reason that President Bush warned the terrorist masters "Those who support the terrorists... will be held to account."

The Chinese didn't invade South Korea in 1950. Their surrogates in North Korea did. Suddenly, though, after supporting them and their weapons development over the decades, the Chinese are now worrying that the monsters they spawned may get out of control.

Are the writers of the New York Times and others of Chinese ancestry? Is stupid an inheritable trait? One wouldn't think so, since Chinese-Americans are some of the brightest folks around.

Is it actually necessary to draw out in crayon exactly what dangers are posed by providing murderous children with terrible weapons, in the hopes that they might harm the neighbors you dislike?

Maybe this IS what was necessary for the Times and their dupes to slowly begin to realize just what has evaded them for so long.

You don't open a criminal investigation into who built the weapon that vaporized Tel Aviv. You don't open a criminal investigation into the weapon which killed New York City.

Instead, you act like a responsible adult and remove those weapons from the grasp of vicious people... before they have a chance to use them. At the same time, you put the sellers of those delivery systems out of business, before they have a chance to be mated up with the warheads. And, at the same time, you kill those operatives who are training terrorists in the use and maintenance of such systems.

That is... you do these things if you want your children to live.

Was it really so hard to understand?

During the Cold War, I recall Americans saying to Russians "We love our children as much as you love your children." Sting actually had a song about this. I know a woman who was setting up student exchange programs in the 1980's and she said that this was a very good way of getting Russians to open up to her.

On the other hand ...

Many Muslims hope that their children will grow up to be suicide bombers. So, there's a problem here ...

And... there... it... is... the fundamental flaw which will cause the deaths of many many people. We care too much. They don't care at all.
