"The ship is sinking and all of us, the Lebanese, should stick together and work together to stop the Israeli aggression," Amin Gemayel, a Maronite Christian who served as president from 1982 to 1988, told the Arabic-language TV station Al-Jazeera . . . Michel Aoun, a one-time commander in Lebanon's 15-year civil war who now serves in parliament, said . . . "I don't think that Israel has the capability to destroy Hezbollah militarily because Hezbollah is not a group of armed men," Aoun said. "Hezbollah is a major part of the Lebanese social fabric."

FRiends, we should have been a little more cautious before believing that we were receiving the truth from the MSM about Lebanon a few months ago. Most of it was Lebanese advocacy speech (propaganda).
There's also a quote from Hariri's son in the CNN piece behind the link. I urge you all to follow the link and read the rest of it.
If one of them said they wanted Hezbollah out, how long do you figure it would take before he was kidnaped and beheaded by a Hezzie terrorist?
that's what I want to hear
"kill all of Hezbollah !"
kill um all , destroy their enablers,
then there can be peace.
Most Lebanese regard Nasrallah as a hero, because they believe that he drove Israel out of Lebanon during the last conflict. There's been a story floating through most of the ethnic groups there (including non-Muslim) about his son's martyrdom in that fight.
Been south of Beirut lately?
CNN conveniently forgets intervening history, namely their beloved UN's resolution 1559, dated 9/2/04, calling for "the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias."
And now Shebaa Farms, not mentioned in any of the rhetoric thus far, is an issue. How convenient.
Israelis, The Arabs, why don't they just wipe each other out of existense ?
Let them nuke each other, let God Sort Out the Rest !
~rolls eyes~
Never Forget- the proper form is Hiz'b'Allah... party of Allah. Calling them 'Hezbollah' is just Drive By Media spin and distraction.
That's a good point, although a few people might use the more popular phonetic to avoid mentioning the name of a pagan deity (re. the older contraction referring to moon worship).
Welcome to FR.
Don't let the door hitchyah.
If they are the Party of Allah then Israel is Party Poopers.
Put simply, Leb. attacked Is. with assist from Iran and Syria. Don't forget, we have treaty with Is. which authorizes to attack who attacks Is. Tie N.K. in, and whack all 3 on same day. Demand unconditional surrender from ALL 3.
This is what happens when a country prostitutes itself to a Terrorist organization. I am never for targeting civilians but I am all for making them so miserable they wish they were never born. That is the only way you are going to get a real change in Lebanon.
Their stupidity always trips them up... ;)
When Lebanon decides that Hezbollah really is a cancer on its society, then the attacks on Lebanon can be reconsidered. Fair enough?

Unfortunately not. Hezbollah is a home grown Lebanese terrorist group, now oberating internationally and yes, with the support of Iran and Syria. However they have a significant level of support in the country of their birth, they control a large swath of territory and maintain a armed military force, with the forbearance of the Lebanese government. In which they hold both assembly seats and cabinet posts. They have been armed openly, with the cooperation of the Lebanese government. If Israel is able to significantly damage Hizbollah, it's going to be up to the Lebanese government to prevent their return, again. They better recognize the internal support for Hizbollah if they expect to accomplish that task.
