Jordan attacked Israel. Israel is responding, and should continue until Jordan surrenders unconditionally.

Oh yes they have excuses...it's not us...it's someone else. We are not really a country etc.

Excuses won't fly.

The priest said many Christian soldiers, including some from his area, had been killed.

Father's words would contradict the claims of the Lebanese government that its troops are not engaging Israeli forces. It would also contradict Israel's claims that the IDF is fighting Hezbollah and not Lebanese regulars.

I see no press reports indicating that Lebanese regulars are engaged in the fighting at all - let alone fighting on a scale that would result in the deaths of "many" Maronites in the Lebanese armed forces.

Very puzzling comment.

about 3-4 times a week, I listen to the Marionite podcast of the reading of the Divine Office. They pray for the people of Zion and the old testiment. We may hear about anti-Israel attitudes by the Christians in the middle east but I just don't believe that there is the anti-semitism there.

Of the 372 civilian Lebanese reported killed, how many were actually Hezbollah terrorists?

One cannot get any kind of objective commentary from a Lebanese priest especially one who says something like this:

"Dialogue is the only way to solve problems between countries," said Fr Charles Ksas, a parish priest in Bziza, a village near Tripoli, in northern Lebanon.

Except this is not between countries, Father. It's between terrorists that your country refuses to root out and the country that continues to suffer death at the hands of those same terrorists.

What does any of this have to do with Jordan, a decided noncombatant in the current engagement?

Israel is bombing Shiite locations in Lebanon but most especially in Southern Lebanon. Why don't you try and find out whether that lower picture is of a Shiite neighborhood.

A few bombs have been sent to Christian Lebanese neighborhoods where there are financial organizations (banks for instance) who have enabled the Hizbulalh

Get ready for a Jillion responses to your mistaken post from people who couldn't scroll down a few posts.

I hate it when my fingers do my thinking and actually complete the thought.

And that error sits out there no matter how many subsequent "fixes" you post.

"This war failed to divide the Lebanese," Father Ksas said in an e-mail from Lebanon on July 21. "Christians and Muslims are both damaged, and they have found that their unity is the only way to survive."

Lovely. All this love and brotherhood and they couldn't stop the fricking hezbully lunatics amongst themselves from doing their kidnapping and rocket thing agsinst an overwhelmingly stronger neighbor.

Same stupid thing; how many times can a mouse walk up and kick the cat in the balls and expect the world to feel sorry for him because he's simple-minded??

I'll tell those idiots something: I feell sorry for the CAT, and my recommendation to him is to esxterminate their goofy asses, post haste. I hope they're all sitting there singing kum-bay-ah together when it happens.

O.K.

Unite with Hezbollah who started this and face annihilation.

Subservience to thugs is an ancient human response.

I walked by the local Courthouse and there were 3 Lebanese out there with "Stop US aid to Israel" "support Lebanon" etc. signs.

They were being interviewed on TV else I would have asked "what is so hard about returning the illegally kidnapped soldiers and to STOP shooting rockets?"

The end of this war is in the hands of Hezbolla.

This post is not anti semitism. The priest posed the question:

"We expect that war will be over soon. We think no one will win and the problems will be unsolved. But who will give life to the dead and rebuild the houses and restore the bridges and reconstruct the economy?"

BTW - great podcast and worth the investment to purchase the Maronite Divine Office.

I suspect much of what we may hear out of Beirut from Christians are false expressions of unity borne of fear of reprisal from the Islamic militants. Public expressions do not equate to inner feelings in that part of the world.

Time magazine, the reiterratings of respective loses are tools of the relativists, something Pope Benedict deems a yoke around the necks of this world.

I don't think many here will be interested in the link, and those that do make the leap will merely mumble something about "collateral damage" and the realities of war.

I'm pretty sure the responses would not be that way if Western children were the subject.
