Too bad Kennedy can't be banned, or his aquatic "automobile".

What they should do is add to this provision that the County Deputy can "Deputize" these gun owners to act as a security force, much like a County Militia.

In fact having a county Militia to help in times like this is an idea who's time LONG ago came and for some reason, went.

Hi All-

I would love to hear Senator Kennedy's twisted logic on how a law-abiding and decent citizen suddenly becomes a "threat to police and first-responders" in the event of a storm or other natural disaster. Hopefully that crackpot will retire from the Senate soon.

Ping to article on effort to prohibit gun confiscation during an emergency or natural disaster.

I know some activists here who are working to initiate such a measure on the state/local level. Yall know anything about existing local laws on the subject?

Also, let me know if you're interested, and I'll freepmail you more info on the petition.

emergency puts police officers and first responders in danger

You can't have it both ways (unless you're liberal gun grabbing neo national socialist piece of sh!t like Kennedy of course) Either, "police put their lives on the line for us every day" or they are the government's sacred bully boys who never to go in harms way. Which is it? (Hint - Think about how the Columbine swat team reacted)

CAMP GUNFREE!

A common sense and historically proven way to keep those dangerous and destructive GUNS out of YOUR life. MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE NOW!

Details below.

Concerned about the easy availability of guns in our society?

Are you as alarmed as the United Nations and some within our own government about the "gun nuts" and other freedom wackos allowed to run loose?

Wish the government would just repeal the Second Amendment and confiscate all the guns because you believe sensible people shouldn't suffer because of some idiotic notion about some antiquated “right?”

While we can't take the guns away from the people, we CAN take the people (or at least SOME of them) away from their guns.

At CAMP GUNFREE, we have created an atmosphere of near-total tranquility where you and your family will experience the benefits of a GUN FREE environment.

The sign over the beautiful wrought iron gate declares: “NO FIREARMS ALLOWED!” Most arriving camp guests never see this view from their comfortable rail cars.

Each of our camps is a gated community designed to keep guns away from camp guests. Firmly enforced security measures ensure that these dangerous and destructive devices are kept outside. Each camp boasts 24 hour, 7 day a week sentries and state-of-the-art enclosure systems, guard dogs, trenches and surveillance equipment to absolutely GUARANTEE that no firearms enter the facility. Rigidly controlled access ensures that no guns will ever be smuggled in.

No cost has been spared to ensure that Camp GunFree remains gun free.

Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) charges a Republican-backed amendment that prohibits the confiscation of guns during an emergency puts police officers and first responders in danger.

If the reports from NO have any accuracy whatsoever, it was the first-responders (the thugs) who put the population at risk. When there is no phone service, people cannot rely on calling 911 for protection (even when the phones are working, 357 beats 911 almost every time). Disarm the looters? Absolutely. Disarm grandma sitting on her front porch? Insanity.

Kennedy knows that in a disaster that his property is going to be specially protectected. The legal gun owners are probably Republicans anyway. Disarm the Republicans. The criminal's guns are untraceable so they stay armed. In any account the the law abider's, Democrat and Republican will be in open season.. Ted lets his constituents in danger as well. Bet he never thought of that.

This is from an article from the Cato Institute:

Like many early horror stories about ultra-violent New Orleans natives, whether in their home city or in far-flung temporary shelters, the A.P. article turned out to be false. Evacuation from the city of New Orleans was never “halted,” according to officials from the Coast Guard, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Louisiana National Guard. The only helicopter airlifts stopped were those by a single private company, Acadian Ambulance, from a single location: the Superdome. And Acadian officials, who had one of the only functional communications systems in all of New Orleans during those first days, were taking every opportunity to lobby for a massive military response.

"During the rescue and response after Hurricane Katrina police officers and first responders had to pull back from rescuing victims because they were being shot at by snipers."

Guess what genius! Any scum wad that would shoot at a first responder isn't going to give a tinker's damn about your moronic gun confiscation law. What a schmuck!

First, I challenge his assumption, that police and other first responders will be endangered by this, but even if it were true, so what? Does it make more sense to endanger the first responders to keep the citizens safe or endanger the citizens to keep the first responders safe??? After all, the jobs are dangerous by definition, their JOB is to keep us safe at their own risk.

Kennedy also accuses the National Rifle Association of setting the Senate's Republican agenda. "This proposal is part of the NRA's nationwide campaign to target the nation's Mayors and Police Chiefs. With fear tactics and inflammatory rhetoric, the NRA is looking for pledges that the people protecting our communities will never confiscate a weapon during a natural disaster. The NRA's perverse response to the devastating tragedy caused by Hurricane Katrina has been to launch an aggressive fund-raising campaign to undermine the very law enforcement and public safety officials who protect us during times of crisis," Kennedy says in a prepared statement.

Dear Ted:

If we could trust you to uphold the constitution, such measures wouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately, we can't, and we don't and never will trust you and your ilk.

Sincerely,

Locked and Loaded NRA Member

You know gun control's a losing issue among Dims when die-hard Rats such as Feingold & Obama voted in favor of this.

'Old Lard Butt', Teddy Kennedy has his head so far up his posterior orifice, that he needs to go see a surgeon to implant some eyeholes by his belly button (so he can see out).
