Photos that damn Hezbollah (Hiding with civilians)
Sunday Herald Sun ^ | July 30, 2006 | Chris Link

Posted on 07/30/2006 6:51:22 AM PDT by bobsunshine

THIS is the picture that damns Hezbollah. It is one of several, smuggled from behind Lebanon's battle lines, showing that Hezbollah is waging war amid suburbia.

The images, obtained exclusively by the Sunday Herald Sun, show Hezbollah using high-density residential areas as launch pads for rockets and heavy-calibre weapons.

Dressed in civilian clothing so they can quickly disappear, the militants carrying automatic assault rifles and ride in on trucks mounted with cannon.

The photographs, from the Christian area of Wadi Chahrour in the east of Beirut, were taken by a visiting journalist and smuggled out by a friend.

They emerged as:

US President George Bush called for an international force to be sent to Lebanon.

ISRAEL called up another 30,000 reserve troops.

THE UN's humanitarian chief Jan Egeland called for a three-day truce to evacuate civilians and transport food and water into cut-off areas.

US SECRETARY of State Condoleezza Rice returned to the Middle East to push a UN resolution aimed at ending the 18-day war, and:

A PALESTINIAN militant group said it had kidnapped, killed and burned an Israeli settler in the West Bank.

The images include one of a group of men and youths preparing to fire an anti-aircraft gun metres from an apartment block with sheets hanging out on a balcony to dry.

Others show a militant with AK47 rifle guarding no-go zones after Israeli blitzes.

Another depicts the remnants of a Hezbollah Katyusha rocket in the middle of a residential block blown up in an Israeli air attack.

The Melbourne man who smuggled the shots out of Beirut and did not wish to be named said he was less than 400m from the block when it was obliterated.

"Hezbollah came in to launch their rockets, then within minutes the area was blasted by Israeli jets," he said.

"Until the Hezbollah fighters arrived, it had not been touched by the Israelis. Then it was totally devastated.

"It was carnage. Two innocent people died in that incident, but it was so lucky it was not more."

The release of the images comes as Hezbollah faces criticism for allegedly using innocent civilians as "human shields".

Mr Egeland blasted Hezbollah as "cowards" for operating among civilians.

"When I was in Lebanon, in the Hezbollah heartland, I said Hezbollah must stop this cowardly blending in among women and children," he said.

Just read on another thread (heard on Meet the Press) that Israel now has a video that shows missile launches on the building in Qana next to the one that collapsed. Apparently the force from the bomb on the missle launches caused the collapse of the second building. They will be releasing the video shortly.

Greg Palkot is another lefty.

These "reporters" need to stop putting their spin on it and report it for what it is. Although I did hear this morning, "theories" as to why in the Qana explosion there are no 18-50 year old males in the rubble.

Actually, in most of the blasts there are no men. Maybe someone should ask the simple question of "why?"

THE UN's humanitarian chief Jan Egeland called for a three-day truce to evacuate civilians and transport food and water into cut-off areas.

In this case I'd give the UN what they ask for - 72 hours to evacuate "civilians" from all areas within 50 miles of the Israeli border. Embed media reporters with the UN as it fumbles its way through evacuating civilians whom Hezzies are forcing at gunpoint to stay as human shields for Hezzie military operations. Go and do it, UN.

I had to leave the tv just now. I could literally just spit. I am so disgusted with FOX news show. Then I come to the computer and here is this. The FOX person seems to blame Israel for everything and there is poor little Lebanon. That is the drift I got. I thought the ABC news show was equally upsetting. Doesn't ABC listen to its own news. Hezobollah was told to get civilians out of the way. I don't trust civilian deaths anyway because one minute a person is a Hez soldier and the next switches to just civilian.

Greg Palcot did ask that question, and then answered it with his "they're off fighting the good fight" comment. Turned my stomach.

Hizballah is winning the global PR war, no doubt. As if most of the world weren't already against the Israeli "occupiers", global TV and media from al Jazeera to the BBC have run a very different perspective than what we see here in the US, as you would expect.

Where we see mostly images of katyusha rocket damage in Israel and precision strikes in Lebanon, the rest of the world sees images of dead and bleeding Lebanese women and children 24/7. It doesn't matter if it is the same footage looped over and over again. Cries go up to stop the Israeli barbarity. Coverage of Hizballah is as a humanitarian aid agency saving all the people from certain harm. The US is, of course, the Great Satan behind this all.

The Hizballah leader is already proclaiming military victory. A ceasefire will be seen as confirmation of this.

I think it was Golda Meir who once said something to the effect of "We can forgive you for killing our children, but we can never forgive you for making us kill yours."

There certainly should exist damning Hezi photos but sorry gang, this aint it.

This appears to be an anti-aircraft weapon and not an offensive weapon - that was not successfull given the apparent success of the bomb run.

On the plus side, by hiding behind their women and children the jihadis are pretty much eliminating any future recruits to their side...

Why is it so hard for the people to understand the same thing is happening in Iraq?

And if they do get killed, the willing media covering the conflict will count them as civilian dead.

Exactly! They are the one's found with t-shirts on and ball caps. It's all psychological when it comes to Islamo warfare. They know that the world press eats this civilian casualty stuff up with a spoon. That's how they are able to get their opponents to back off so they can continue on with their agenda. They count on everyone in the world to pussy out as soon as the dead baby pictures get splashed worldwide.

You have never seen an anti-aircraft gun used against ground targets. It is hell on troops and will damage or destroy armor.
