Al Gore warns of pole shift

Al Gore warning of the dangers of the impending pole shift

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has been touring the world and making presentations of an impending global pole shift.

"The world is in a greater danger now than ever before", Mr. Gore said, "and the time for us to take action is drawing short".

"Any time between now and the year 2012 the earth will shift on its axis, causing massive flooding, worldwide suffering and death."

Mr. Gore also urged action on the part of his audiences, including massive migration of humans from one continent to another to shift the load on the earth and bring it back into balance.

"This truth might be inconvenient, but future generations are counting on us to take action now", he insisted, "and much better to relocate your home now than for your children and grandchildren to lose theirs in the future".

Mr. Gore has also been promoting his newest book, Earth Coming Unbalanced.

You will find substantive discussion here, and you'll also find unbacked assertions...lol. I've run into plenty of both, but there are numerous FReepers who are excellent sources of information and knowledge. You can't be too sensitive if you want to participate at FR.

It was a scientist contributing to the NY Times if you had bothered even to visit the link.

Parking lots and buildings!?

Have you heard of ice cores? There are other ways to get data about the past besides sattelites.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement.

There are lots of conservatives posting here. I'm surprised. :)

There is very good evidence for GW.

The Chicken Littles always say that, but they never really present any. They just show unrelated data, mix in some hyperbole, steep it in pseudo-scientific techno-jargon, stir in some conjecture and wild supposition, and declare that man is causing global warming.

It's really pretty simple:

Either the earth is getting warmer or it's not. The data suggest that it MAY be getting warmer, but not everywhere. As your article points out, it's getting cooler in Antarctica.

IF the earth is warming, is it irreversible, or is it merely a natural cycle? There is NO conclusive evidence that we are in an irreversible warming trend.

IF the earth is warming, is man causing it? There is NO conclusive evidence that mankind's actions are having ANY kind of significant impact on global temperatures.

IF man is causing it, what measures can be taken that will reverse the warming? And what will be the long-term unintended consequences of these measures? Here's where Gore and his ilk are in fantasy land. They can't prove that the earth is even warming due to mankind's actions, yet the prescribe draconian, almost luddite actions to "fix" the problem. But they can't even see what the economic or societal consequences will be of these actions to "solve" a "problem" that may not even exist, and may not even be of our making.

Here's a tidbit for you. Let's say, we all got fully behind Mr. Gore and we slashed our oil consumption by 50%. We cut it in half. Worldwide. By 2015, world population is projected to increase to about 10 billion people. If the population increases by almost 50%, then that dramatic 50% reduction in oil consumption isn't gonna do a damn bit of good, is it?

Gore never talks about the good that may come from global warming. There may be longer planting seasons. Perhaps increased crops worldwide. Some barren areas may get more rainfall. It's unrealistic and...well, partisan to only present one side--the negative side--of an issue. Isn't it?

Misinformed?? The only people that are misinformed are those that swallow the bilge that Algore is spewing!

Are you really Al or are you Ms Pelosi?

Misinformed? No, that's Gore and your side who are "misinforming" the public on this issue.

I've read plenty on GW. There is not *lots* of evidence. There's *lots* of guessing, but that's not the same thing.

You just gave another example of selective interpretation. Did you actually read the article in full? The scientist *supports* GW.

Unrelated data and mixed hyperbole? Who? I'm a scientist myself (though an experimental psychologist) and have read many Science articles (on diverse issues), I don't know what you're talking about. Give me an example and back up the assertion.

Al Gore is an idiot. Any person that tries to derive any sense from his putrid rantings is an even bigger idiot. Go to Democrat Underground where you will be appreciated. Leave. Bye Bye.
