An LGF reader has forwarded the following email (I suppose you could say our reader leaked it), sent to all Associated Press employees, congratulating themselves on the propaganda photos from Qana and awarding the photographers cash prizes:
Last Sunday proved to be one of the most dramatic days in the war between Israel and Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. APs extensive photo team produced a stunning series of images that day that beat the competition and scored huge play worldwide.
Rumors surfaced early Sunday morning that an Israeli airstrike had flattened a house in the southern Lebanese village of Qana. The number of deaths wasnt immediately known, but the seriousness of the incident was clear. Beirut-based photographer Hussein Malla immediately called AP photographers Nasser Nasser, Lefteris Pitarakis and stringer Mohammed Zaatari and advised them to rush to the scene. Nasser arrived as the bodies of many civilians including numerous children were being pulled from the rubble. Lefteris later took over, enabling Nasser to get his pictures swiftly onto the wire. Kevin Frayer was dispatched from Beirut to boost APs presence. Throughout the morning, APs team filed a steady stream of powerful images.
Meanwhile, in Beirut, a small Hezbollah demonstration exploded into violence at word of the Qana attack. Hezbollah supporters stormed the nearby United Nations building, scaling walls and smashing their way past bulletproof glass barriers to enter the building itself. Photographers Hussein Malla, Kevork Djansezian and Ben Curtis were all there to capture the rioting. Beirut-based photo editor Dalia Khamissy coordinated with photographers in the field and handled a steady stream of stringer photos. All day long, AP photographers relayed what they were seeing to AP reporters for print stories.
Nassers most haunting image showed a man emerging from the rubble carrying the lifeless and dust-covered body of a child. Calm, morning light shone down on man and child, highlighting them against an almost monochrome background of pure rubble. ... Nassers image ran on the front pages of at least 33 newspapers, including the San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the New York Post. It also won a double-page center spread in The Guardian of London. Lefteriss image of a resident weeping next to a row of bodies made the front of The Washington Post, among many others. Hussein, Kevork and Bens images of the storming of the UN building easily beat those of the competition.
For a day of outstanding a memorable photos, taken in conditions of substantial danger, the Lebanon photo team of Nasser Nasser, Lefteris Pitarakis, Kevin Frayer, Mohammed Zaatari, Ben Curtis, Hussein Malla, Kevork Djansezian and Dalia Khamissy shares this weeks $500 Beat of the Week award."
I was going to comment on the article, but there's no way I can say it better than you just did. We only need to work harder with our e-mail friends to make sure they know the truth and the MSM will be deader than a doornail in 5 years.
This drivel, combined with the increasing awareness of the propaganda aspects of Qana which is beginning to seep into the mainstream, could be a huge disaster for the media.
Early Sunday we received a call from Hezbollah than any minute now the IAF should be around to bomb this house they set up for targeting. "Bring 'yer cameras, thems kids is gonna be deader than doornails and ripe for your awaiting lenses any minute now...."
If this is indeed true, and we have no reason to believe it is not, we now know that the MSM (AP in this case) is truly conspiring against all decency in its rabid, twisted support for anti-Americanism and their radical leftist agenda to empower America's worst internal enemies.
Will ANYONE in our government stand up and give the AP the lashing they deserve???
If the "insurgents" and "militants" have their way, the AP will be but a memory.
How can the Left support the worst Facists the world has ever known? I'll answer my own question: They hate Bush, Republicans, Conservatives and Israel more than anything. Their quest to regain political power trumps all.
Islamofacists hate a free press, secularism, women's liberties, education, gays, liberals...but it's Conservatives who support the war to save them.
We must win in '06 and '08.
A car was involved in an accident in a street. As expected a large crowd gathered. A newspaper reporter, anxious to get his story could not get near the car.
Being a clever sort, he started shouting loudly, "Let me through! Let me through! I am the son of the victim."
The crowd made way for him.
Lying in front of the car was a donkey.
Ping to the article and freeper mojito's excellent post in #1. Well said, mojito. Kudos.
Thanks for the ping, Peach
"....scored huge play worldwide..."
all the MSM and Dems care about. Summed up perfectly by one of their filthy, own.
Indeed, spot on. Last week when Rush spoke of the press being duped by the Hezbo's, I thought he really missed the mark.
They know full well, and are not useful idiots. They are complicit fellow travelers.
Nassers most haunting image showed a man emerging from the rubble carrying the lifeless and dust-covered body of a child. Calm, morning light shone down on man and child, highlighting them against an almost monochrome background of pure rubble.
I think the photo editor got wood.
Guaranteed ... liberal leftist comprise the selection committee. Have you ever heard of a conservative individual, or entity, winning a Pulitzer?
You're right. It's orgasmic propaganda! The MSM's own version of 'Mission Accomplished'!
Israel should fire some missles at AP offices. I'd support that.
