Pelosi: July Job Report Shows Bush Economy Heading in Wrong Direction
Washington, D.C. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on the tepid jobs report released today that showed only 113,000 new jobs were created in July and the unemployment rate is up to 4.8 percent, while real wages have remained stagnant over the last three years:
As bad economic news for middle-income families living paycheck to paycheck adds up, Republicans continue to play politics with the economic well-being of millions of families.
Gas prices and health care costs are doubling, oil prices remain at a record level, and real family income has stalled. In response, Republicans proposed tying a pay raise for hard-working Americans to tax breaks for the privileged few that will drive up the already record national debt. Last night, Senate Democrats stopped the Republicans cynical ploy that ties an increase in the minimum wage for 7 million Americans to cuts in the estate tax for the 7,500 wealthiest families in America, while adding $800 billion to the deficit.
"It is immoral that millions of workers earning the minimum wage have not gotten a raise in nine years. Before Congress adjourns for the year, we must have a vote in Congress to raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour. But that means a clean bill a straight up or down vote on increasing the minimum wage.
Democrats have a New Direction for America, one that brings economic opportunity and security to all Americans by rewarding hard work and raising the minimum wage.

Fast food already starts at around $7/hr where I live.
Exactly, and I think that is why the GOP was willing to trade a hike in MW to abolishing the Death Tax. Which party was it that didn't allow it to pass cloture today?
Class Warfare bump.
I agree with you. Show them no mercy. The dems have tried every lie in the book to trash and hamper the Bush administration. If, Lord forbid, a dim gets the presidency, I think we should show him the same respect, and then some, that they showed GWB - in spades!!! Take no prisoners! They should wish they never shook the sleeping dragon!
Critical theory is yet another psychological command and control device. As stated by Daniel J. Flynn, Critical Theory, as its name implies, criticizes. What deconstruction does to literature, Critical Theory does to societies. (Intellectual Morons, p 15-16) Critical Theory is an ongoing and brutal assault via vicious criticism relentlessly leveled against Christians, Christmas, the Boy Scouts, Ten Commandments, our military, and all other aspects of traditional American culture and society.
Both political correctness and Critical Theory are in essence, psychological bullying. They are the psycho political battering rams by which Frankfurt School disciples such as the ACLU are forcing Americans to submit to and to obey the will and the way of the Left. These devious devices are but psychological versions of Georg Lukacs and Laventi Berias cultural terrorism tactics. In the words of Beria, Obedience is the result of force
Force is the antithesis of humanizing actions. It is so synonymous in the human mind with savageness, lawlessness, brutality, and barbarism, that it is only necessary to display an inhuman attitude toward people to be granted by those people the possessions of force. (The Russian Manual on Psychopolitics: Obedience, by Laventi Beria, head of Soviet Secret Police and Stalins right-hand man)
Dems Vow a 'U-Turn' for America
Democrats plan to use a u-turn theme in their final push to wrest power from the Republicans in the November elections. Its perfect, said Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada. Polls show a majority of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Our u-turn message can be anything the voter wants it to be. Its every direction other than the one were going now.
Reids counterpart in the House, Nancy Pelosi of California, said Democrats offer change. Americans know the country is going in the wrong direction, she said. Our promise of unspecified change cant be topped by anything the Republicans have to offer.
Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean crowed over his partys ingenious ploy. The Republican appeal is limited to hard-working people willing to bear the burden of supporting themselves and fighting the war on terror, said Dean. Our message is one of relief from these oppressive responsibilities. Whatever the voters think is bad about their lives, our u-turn slogan says a vote for Democrats will fix it.
