2 Of 11 Missing Egyptians Surrender In N.J.
POSTED: 4:20 pm EDT August 9, 2006 MANVILLE, N.J. -- Two of 11 Egyptian exchange students who failed to report for their college program in Montana after entering the United States surrendered to police in New Jersey on Wednesday, the FBI said.
"In response to hearing in the media that they should turn themselves in to the nearest police station, they did just that," said Steven Siegel, a spokesman for the FBI's Newark office.
The students are not suspected of any link to terrorism, he said. They turned themselves in at the Manville police headquarters.
They were being held on immigration charges. Their names were not released.
Earlier in the day, one of the other missing students was arrested in Minneapolis, the FBI said.

Were they upset about missing their month-long English class in Montana?
sorry - 9
They turned themselves in, which is to their credit, but it might be they are only doing so knowing that the entire law enforcement community in the United States is looking for them.
I'm sure they're good kids and we'll be hearing from the ACLU and CAIR soon. / s
Thanks, onyx. Sure would like to know the "rest of the story". I'm sure they have a perfectly good explanation for why they spent all that money to come to America for a college course and all eleven decided to split up and ?? (sarc)
Is it me, or does that phrase seem ironically strange?
Or they were the decoys.
That'll teach 'em to play hooky in Montana!
Took the wrong Jug Handle!! I detest those things.
how about requiring foreign exchange students from moslem countries to have to wear a GPS tracking anklet upon entry into the United States ?
Maybe it is as they say but I hardly expected to hear our government or the media report that they caught a terrorist just in the nick of time that had smuggled weapons and was part of a plan to cause mass damage. Instead, I expect they missed their plane, got lost , were scared etc.
As we say here in North Cackalacky,
"Boy, you ain't right."
LOL!
The point is they are ONLY here to take a month-long class in English. Nothing more.
It is not even a semester enrollment in university. Quite frankly I don't know what Montana State is doing since this is clearly not a semester-related course (is it a second session summer class english second langues course?). Anyway these guys missed it big time so they have no reason to be in the US period.
