2 Of 11 Missing Egyptians Surrender In N.J.
POSTED: 4:20 pm EDT August 9, 2006 MANVILLE, N.J. -- Two of 11 Egyptian exchange students who failed to report for their college program in Montana after entering the United States surrendered to police in New Jersey on Wednesday, the FBI said.
"In response to hearing in the media that they should turn themselves in to the nearest police station, they did just that," said Steven Siegel, a spokesman for the FBI's Newark office.
The students are not suspected of any link to terrorism, he said. They turned themselves in at the Manville police headquarters.
They were being held on immigration charges. Their names were not released.
Earlier in the day, one of the other missing students was arrested in Minneapolis, the FBI said.

Maybe this is just a dry run to check out the effectiveness of our immigration tracking and catch procedures?
If so, we flunked the test. Chances are we never would have picked them up unless they turned themselves in. We probably don't even have photos on them. The others will probably show up in other parts of the country, when/if they turn themselves in.

one of the other missing students was arrested in Minneapolis, the FBI said. Was he trying to enroll in the same flight school that Musawi attended ?

Or they were the decoys. and just how would that work?

Jail time followed by deportation would be most appropriate for these guys. Anyone entering the US from Arab nations should be photographed, finger printed and made to periodically report to authorities on their whereabouts. Call it profiling, but this is what we should be doing.

Earlier in the day, one of the other missing students was arrested in Minneapolis, the FBI said. What happened?! Was his English (and his mapreading skills so bad) he couldn't tell the difference between Montana and Minnesota on the map? At least he headed west, unlike the other two dopes who decided to hang out in Jersey.

Just another isolated incident. Nothing to see here, folks. How about this one, "Jedi Business, go back to your drinks," while waving your right hand gently in the general direction of the poor inquistive sap who might care.

They may have correctly assumed that, because of intense media exposure, they could be viewed as too much of a security risk for the people they were working with.
Better to be deported than executed.

Well they're sure not going to learn it in NJ. I've lived here all my life and I can barely speak the language! ;)

decoy: someone or something used to draw attention away from another
Just one of many possibilities if these "students" are not really students.

I hardly expected to hear our government or the media report that they caught a terrorist just in the nick of timeAt least not before most or all of the fugitives are rounded up.
