Update:
US Security Threat Level set to Severe (red) for flights to England, Orange (high) for domestic flights. The GENERAL level is still at heightened (yellow)

I noticed from the other thread that the UK has sane/logical names for their threat levels. Theirs is not at critical.
Why do we use colors? It isn't the easiest thing to understand at a glance.

the UK news shows all our airports very slow and congested. Expect cancellations. The plot was not for day - but the security forces are concerned in case there is a back up plan. There is no special concern about aircraft in the air.
