Thanks weegee. When I se cr@p like this, it makes me want to weep. I remember Golda Meir. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.

We can forgive you for killing our sons. But we will never forgive you for making us kill yours. Golda Meir, to Anwar Saddat just before the peace talks. Israeli (Russian-born) politician (1898 - 1978)

And why do toy dolls always defy gravity by floating to the top of the debris?

But we need to keep our feet on the ground here.

Dude, why don't ya take your own advice here? You are so emotionally invested in the terrorists explanation of these pictures. The explanation is obvious and staright-forward. The man brought the toys to the scene in the suitcase. He then tore the arms off and planted them on top of the rubble. That's all.

You are making convoluted explanations and highlighting different random sections of pictures to support the terrorist's propaganda. Then ya have the audacity to tell others that THEY need to keep their feet on the ground???

Actually, my only point is that it's fishy. Since every report I've read or seen says nobody (especially "journalists") gets in or out of Hezbollah territory (called a "Hizbollah stronghold" in AP caption) without permission and an escort, my guess is these 3 photographers were brought there to photograph a scene that was already set up. They knew they were watching a staged event so the money shot (Minnie) was submitted w/o reference to the guy and with a different date. The evidence (lack of dust, perfectly placed Minnie, similar documented photos, etc) all point to a staged scene. If you think that scene was legit, more power to you. I have noticed however, we aren't seeing these kind of photos coming out of there since these things have been exposed. Like a Boston Herald Photo Editor was quoted as saying the other day, you can't believe anything coming out of Beirut.

Okay. I changed my mind. After looking at close-ups again of Pic #2 I agree that it is, in fact, the Minnie doll. My bad. Good catch.

If you're not being sarcastic, all I can say is sheesh.

And thanks to you too for making my point.

No expert here but lots of experience with dolls :o) - he appears to be holding the doll by an arm in picture 1 and then voila! The doll has no arms.

Also check out the man's clothes. Black without a speck of dust on them from digging through the rubble searching for those toys. His clothes are as clean as Minnie's.

This kind of photo op works so well with the Arab street - they "misunderestimate" the rest of the world.

The whole thing could still have been staged. But I don't think they are quite that clumsy.

They have been able to get away with this staging within the Arab street for a very long time. It's their minds that are too clumsy - not realizing the rest of the world is not that stupid.

I'd imagine this kind of sh** goes on in Iraq also, to be picked up by the MSM as they try to destroy America's will to fight, in their pathetic campaign to discredit George Bush and his administration.

This is BIGGER THAN RATHER, my friends.

It is time to put Reuters, et al, on notice that we expect a higher caliber product.

OFFICIAL NOTICE

TO: Reuters, NYT, abc, nbc, cbs, AP, AFP, et al.

Henceforth, All issued photography will conform to the following standards:

Photographs will be a)undoctored, b)candid, and c)prop-free. All photos shall be shot in an extended time sequence so that images can be reviewed for authenticity. All time stamps on photos shall be in GMT, and photos with improper time stamps shall be discarded. All photographers shall be accompanied by a witness -of verifiable character- whose job is to determine the authenticity of the scene being photographed.

Photo-editors will have the responsibility of obtaining RAW files for review. Editors shall be in direct contact with subjects to verify caption information. All photos in a time sequence shall be available for blogger review, AT ANY TIME.

Any outlet unable to conform to the new standards using digital photography will be expected to return to traditional film use. Negatives in a time sequence shall be available for blogger review, AT ANY TIME.

All news outlets will be issued conformance grades from AAA to BBB or F. Outlets failing to conform and resisting the current standards will, after three warnings, will be deemed "fauxtographers" and graded "F" which will ultimately affect both reputation and revenue.

Then all we have to do is convince Moody's to change their credit ratings based on their quality conformance grade.

Hmmm... It's nice to dream...
