An Iraqi insurgent group said it attacked U.S. forces near Baghdad by setting off explosives attached to a dog, according to a video posted on the Internet on Sunday.
A distant shot in a video issued by the group appeared to show a dog sitting on the side of a road as a military vehicle approached, moments before a large explosion occurred.
Iraq's Jihadi Factions, which has claimed responsibility for attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces, said it carried out the attack in the Abu Ghraib area west of Baghdad, targeting U.S. forces, without giving a date.

Animals using animals...no suprise.
woof
That was my first thought. This should really tick PETA off!
susie
The Russians did something very similar to the Germans in WWII.
I saw a program on the History channel covering the fighting between the Nazi's and the Soviets. It seems the Soviets used the same technique to counter German tanks. They training dogs to run under tanks and then detonated the explosives. The tactic didn't last very long, the Germans just shot every dog they saw.
"I'm waiting for PETA to denounce this."
They will, but they will Blame Bush for it, not the terrorists. Remember, most PETA people are barking moonbats, and to them, EVERYTHING is GW Bush's fault...
No, I'm not kidding either.
PETA will say the dog was using its own free will to rid the land of imperialist oppressors...or something like that.
If they sink any lower it's going to be like "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

"Osama, I know you and the rest of the guys are down here somewhere...."
NO HELEN THOMAS PIX!

Here is the article:
I can hear it now, "WE will NOT do the same because to do so would put us in the same catagory as the NAZIS and we will then become that which we are fighting!!"
Words to DIE BY!!
72 bitches waiting for this noble creature?
Time for a pig bomb?
That and the dogs didn't differentiate between German and Soviet tanks too well.
Dog blows up German tank - celebrate, put oneself in for medal.
Dog blows up Soviet tank - hand off leash to unsuspecting frontovik, denounce Vlasovite traitors to the Motherland in front line unit to NKVD on way back to rear.
PETA will do it, from the safety, in front of the White House, claiming the animals would be safe if there were no Americans to kill. The terrorist better not use kitty cats.
All dogs go to heaven.
I heard something about that once. The story I heard said that this plan backfired on the Russians. Apparently they trained the dogs, strapped with explosives, to run up to tanks where they would explode. The problem was that when the Russians tried this in battle, the dogs kept running towards the Russian tanks instead of the German ones, because they recognized the Russian tanks from their training.
Don't know if it's true; it might be complete BS. Then again sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
Correction: "Subhumans using animals."
And the countermeasure was almost effortless: shoot every nearby dog on sight.
Well, evidently now the dog bombs are passe. Baby bombs are the new trends--at least in the UK.
What a sad state we're in--these monsters will blow up anything, even their own children, because of their hatred.
No, it's quite true. No matter how hard the Russians tried, the dogs could never be taught the difference in Russian and German tanks. That lead to the dogs being used only in areas where Russian tanks weren't operating.
Interestingly enough, U.S. Army manuals have also had sections dealing with using this tactic. IIRC, it was a suggested guerrilla tactic should the Soviets invade Western Europe.
Heck, in 2004 a 12-year old kid fired an RPG at my son and his squad from less than 100 feet away.Luckily the thing wasn't armed and AFTER IT PASSED BETWEEN HIS LEGS hit the ground under his hummer without going off. The kids was soon quite dead.
Muslims on a daily basis are hitting new lows. If the scumbag jihadis will use their own babies, I expect the insects would use anything else available. Muslim terrorists are the most vile things alive on this planet and should not be allowed to breed.
Desperate? Why?
These guys are using all the tools at their disposal against a vastly superior, modern force and....one may argue, winning the war.
The lives of dogs are far more valuable and worthy than this human sh*t.I hope all those responsible catch AIDS!
As I recall, the Germans were planning to do something similar to us during the occupation period.
I will denounce this and I am NOT PETA, my fellow Freepers.
I hope the killers all die a slow tortuous death. I know this technique -- using animals -- is not new, but I loathe it just the same.
It's not despiration, it's aspiration. Muslim terrorists want to fight and die for allah. The pali homicide bombers are not "desperate" either, they aspire death, want it in every fiber of their foul existance. Muslim terrorists are a pestilence on this planet, and should be treated as such.
Figures, the immoral b*st*rds! Americans would never do something like that in a million years. We'd just shoot the dogs with saddlepacks on their backs because we don't want to cause any collateral damage.
Exactly. Sub-humans or cretins is much more like it.
"explosives attached to a dog'
That's it! Now Jihadis are even lower in the animal kingdom than cockroaches.
Anyone who would do that to an obedient and faithful dog is a devil, incorrigible and unsalvageable.
Hopefully, the same cannot be said for the cretin subhumans that do this to both innocent animals and humans.
Something we found while I was in Iraq is that most of the young and dumb ones they send on the suicide bomber missions in Iraq were DRUGGED to the point of being nearly dead before they would go out and do their thing.
That's a dog gone.
Dogs have to stick together.
Thank you, Mike, for your service. :)
Sadly you are right.
I didn't do anything like what our servicemembers are doing. I was just a contractor supporting them.
A family member who served in Vietnam insisted to me 3 years ago that the Iraq war was equivalent to Vietnam. I pressed him as to exactly why he thought that was so. He said because of the small terroritories that were won and then given up and then taken back again. I see in retrospect his point of view...somewhat....
He also made statements that made me understand that it didn't matter if the position was military (front lines or not) or civilian; anyone serving in Iraq was an absolute possible and probable target. We now know full well that is and has and continues to be true.
So, thanks again for your brave service (no matter what the motivation or motivations).
That first part is kind of interesting...
Although we've always had people in and around all of the major hotspots that have blown up....that's where I think we'd disagree.
We could up the ante against them by using pigs.
Reminds me of this story
Russian Mine-Dogs
This was a curious Soviet attempt to develop a 'guided' anti-tank mine. The dogs were kept hungry and trained to crawl under tanks to get their food. In the combat area they were fitted with a special fabric harness which contained 10-12 kg of high explosive in four pouches. On top of the harness was a spring-loaded trigger pin. When the dog crawled under a tank the trigger pin was depressed setting off a detonator and exploding the charge. The Germans soon learned about this scheme from prisoners and dogs appearing in the combat area were shot on sight. German sources claim that mine-dogs were not very effective. However, the Soviets continued to use them at least until the Battle of Kursk, where Soviet sources claimed that 16 dogs destroyed 12 German tanks.
At the battle of Kursk, it's said that the dogs were so frightened by the gunfire that they ran back to their handlers.
After they lost 3 truck, 2 halftracks and 4 of their own tanks, they gave up the Mine Dog idea.
