AUSTRALIAN wine regions won't be able to grow the grapes they're famous for because of global warming, wine lawyers said today.

Lawyers from Adelaide-based Finlaysons rate climate change as the biggest long-term challenge facing Australia's wine industry.

Wine quality could suffer from reduced harvest times, more extreme weather and reduced water supplies, Finlaysons partner Will Taylor said.

“Climate change is probably the biggest long-term issue facing the wine industry throughout the world and individual Australian winemakers and grapegrowers need to be planning for it now,” Mr Taylor said.

BFD....the U.S. breadbasket couldn't grow wheat and corn when it was a subtropical area with dinosaurs roaming over it or when it was covered in glaciers during the Ice Age.

Well, that means the perfect wine growing climate will end up elsewhere, and a new land will become the place to grow vineyards.

Similar articles are running on California.

The "wine" industry is not in any danger. Regionla industries may have to change the ir varieties but wine as an industry will continue.

I could write an article that says "global warming trend opens up new markets for wine industry"

I'm sure the extended growing season and extra 1-2°F will absolutely devastate the vinyards!

England would be a good place to grow wine grapes. After all, they used to grow them there until the world cooled...

I think all these folks are just complaining about the upcoming competition from England. Apparently, the last time wine came from England, it was quite good.
