As long as that single payer system isn't run by the government. What costs more in the USA than Canada is administration costs because of all the different billing methods. Also cutting out elective surgury would lower insurance costs a bit as well. I have suggested a single insurance system before, but only under certain conditions, being non- government controled is one of them.

And they will never cover everything. We'll see higher taxes but we won't see "comprehensive" coverage. The classic "bait and switch" scheme. You'll pay more but you won't get much as you think you were promised.

It works so well in other countries. I hear in the UK there is a cottage industry of people doing dentistry on themselves.

That's exactly how it works in Canada. The more you make, the more they take. And what makes it so sad, is even though you are a tax paying Canadian, you stand at the back of the line while all the crack addicts spend your money on aids drugs.

But that is exactly why liberals don't like your approach. They want control and that's more important to them than addressing the deficiencies in our health care system. Any reform that does not give them total power over our lives they assiduously work to discredit on any number of different grounds.

Screw the liberals. Keep things the way they are then. (except for cutting all this free medicaid abuse thats going on)
I know beyond any doubt that people will really be sorry for doing it Canadian style, (which is crumbling as we speak)

Canada has a population of 32 million people. California has 36 million people, the difference is approximately how many illegal aliens that we have here. Lets face it, they don't contribute much of the tax base, but use a fair share of the services. All I can say to myself and the rest of the hard working / taxing paying Californians is, BEND OVER.

There is an Austin Powers joke in there somewhere.

Yes I read what Sarah had to say. I've also read what the FairOpinion accounts has presented as gospel.

Unfortunately for both the FO account and Sarah, I've also read what the weasel is actually quoted as saying on the campaign trail regarding SB 840 and UHC. He was quite expansive at the CESA last week.

I'd suggest you Google and draw an independent conclusion. Trusting the veracity of bleeding heart journalist like Sarah is akin to trusting a Republican who refuses to cut spending.

Home dentistry isn't just a UK cottage industry, Canadians are in the same situation. In fact Canadians are in a worse situation. At least the UK has SOME "free" government provided dental care, Canada has none at all.

"If there ever was a bill worthy of Arnold's veto, this is definitely it."

He's so "whipped" by his spouse and his Chief of Staff that he no longer has the intestinal fortitude to veto this abomination!!!

They've got him... under their spell. Just like he's got you under his!!!

1. Socialized medicine is more appropriately termed Collectivist Medicine, because our health plans are to be collected and "redistributed". The best case would be that our health benefits would remain the same, but only be diluted more-or-less benignly. This is not possible, however

2. As we know, our leftist chums in the California State Legislature would not be able to resist social manipulation along with the meting out of health care services. They would eventually inter collate themselves into every decision-making loop, like a malignancy, feeding off the program while choking it to death.

3. Outmigration of California taxpayers. I can promise you this will happen. In fact, I would be among the first California tax payers to move to a nice "red" state with me being responsible for my health care (and no one else's.)

3.a. The list of reasons for Californians like me to move is lengthy, but here are a few highlights. Why would I put up with long lines, lower grade health care, lower availability of health care, and higher costs when all I need to do is sell and move? Health is most folks' number one priority. Selling and moving is nothing compared with substandard health-care.

4. Got Illegal Aliens?

Not only would California tax payers like me move the heck out of the Golden State, we would be selling our houses to the masses of immigrants, including illegal aliens who would be invading by the throngs for the prospect of free medical care. Many of these immigrants may not have an active interest in employment or paying taxes.

As I have opined many times before...leftists have absolutely no idea how good they have it in this great Country (including medical care), and they have no clue as to how miserable everyone would be if they ever got their Marxist wishes.

Be sure to read post 10 on this thread.

"The campaign is scheduled to end next August when the Legislature is set to vote on SB 840. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger does not support a single-payer system, calling it a tax increase. Gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides has said he would sign the bill if he wins the November election
