The next time you get around to Vegas, stay at the Belaggio. They have a buffet that has rare delicacies besides regular food. Eat the expensive stuff first. Caviar, deer, even pickled octopus was tasty. Just try everything you never ate before and is rare. That stuff is as expensive as a night's stay in the place. Pig out nicely. I want to go back.

"Brrr....I used to dive around Santa Cruz island."

I spent 13 months on Santa Rosa Island, the next door neighbor to Santa Cruz, during the early 60s. Beautiful place.

If you are allergic to seafood, you are probably allergic to iodine. If so, certain medical tests - kidney, I believe - use protein bound iodine . . .an allergic reaction for you.

Yes! Another nice island.

As much as I *don't* miss Kalifornia, I always felt some sort of refuge out in the Channel Islands.

The crew celebrates after severing large chunks of the giant squid, forcing it to break off its attack on the Nautilus.

It's all true.
I swear by my tattoo!

Dang, those Disney lawyers even work on Sunday.

Anyway, you all know the scene. Kirk Douglas, red and white striped shirt, guitar music on deck.

The unasked question is,--- What was big enough and bad enough to rip the arms off a giant squid?

Kinda scary when ya think about it.

"Yuck! I never could understand how anyone could eat that slimey crap.

"

Squid's not slimy. If yours was slimy, it had spoiled. Calamari is excellent, and small fried whole squids are even better.

I understand what you mean. The fishing was awesome and the wildlife was an added bonus.

If you're ever in Annapolis, MD, be sure to try the calamari at the Ram's Head Tavern. Man, that stuff is good. Best I've ever had.

Not GGG material, but many thanks for the Ping! I've always been a *sucker* for giant squid stories.
