Report: Iran won't give up enrichment

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran said Tuesday it was ready for "serious negotiations" on its nuclear program, but a semi-official news agency said the government was unwilling to abandon nuclear enrichment — the key U.S. demand.

Top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani delivered a written response to ambassadors of Britain, China, Russia, France, Germany and Switzerland to a package of incentives aimed at persuading Iran to roll back on its nuclear program.

Larijani refused to disclose whether the response included an offer to suspend uranium enrichment, and no details of Iran's response were released. The state-run television quoted Larijani as telling the diplomats Iran "is prepared as of Aug. 23 to enter serious negotiations" with the countries that proposed the incentives package.

But the semi-official Fars news agency reported that Iran rejected calls to suspend "nuclear activities" — or uranium enrichment — and "instead has offered a new formula to resolve the issues through dialogue."

Iran delivered its response to the incentives offer nine days before a U.N. Security Council deadline for Iran to halt enrichment or face possible economic and political sanctions.

Let's throw about a dozen resolutions at Iran ..... that'll teach 'em.

With all of the paperwork that'll generate... picture all of the trees that will have to be killed. :(

And follow it up with a sternly worded letter.

If I was Pres for 5 minutes ........ I'd order one of the LA class subs docked in Norfolk to load their tubes with some conventional firecrackers - and point them at NK and Iran - then let 'em fly.

By taking out a few nuclear sites on two countries at the same time ....... ?

I think that would pretty much say what needs to be said.

In addition to bombing their nuclear development sites, we should also bomb their oil wells, immediately. Destroy Iran's nuclear capability and pound its economy into the Stone Age.

Gee, I thought for sure Ahmadinejad (A.K.A. Nutjob) was going to announce the reallocation of his nuclear program funds to go toward feeding starving children in Africa. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't bank on a career in forecasting.

That doesn't look like a population center and hence should be FREE and CLEAR for about 250 bunker busters to pay a visit.

Take a look at this:

This is how it was framed in the first AP article detailing Iran's new penchant for "serious" talks:

Iran says it's ready for 'serious' talks:

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's top nuclear negotiator said Tuesday that Tehran was ready to enter "serious negotiations" over its disputed nuclear program but did not say whether it was willing to suspend uranium enrichment — the West's key demand. ----------------------
And note the change in wording in the article after that:

Iran wants to talk but keep nuke program:

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran said Tuesday it was ready for "serious negotiations" on its nuclear program, but a semiofficial news agency said the government was unwilling to abandon nuclear enrichment — the key U.S. demand. -------------------

So, in the space of about two hours, it suddenly became purely a "US" demand as opposed to a "West" demand. Fishy...

notice the huge security perimeter and fighting positions. The enrichment complex is buried under dozens of feet of concrete and earth.

It's not just the U.S. demanding the termination of uranium enrichment, but this way the AP can frame it as a United States vs. Iran issue.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Iran with their allies, France, China, Russia, you know, all the oil for food beneficiaries, will use these talks to further isolate the US position and move closer to Iran. Condi and W are being taken to the cleaners by Iran since the Iraq invasion with the help of the traitorous left and their media sock puppets.

We are screwed. Our "key" demand doesnt mean crap. We need to back away from the UNSC and go with a coaltion of the willing, if there is a coalition out there.

UNSC is EVIL

I would have had the birds in the area ladened with cruise missiles. Once the report was released on their refusal, they would have already been in the air heading to their facilities. No invasion, no mass bombing, just surgical annihilation of their capabilities. I would then call up the rest of the reserves,..and wait. This would be the result of their decision for a "new formula." Other islamic nations would take note. To allow this to continue is Germany in 1939. At least Iran has the guts to announce to the world their intent to destroy us and Israel. The other islamic nations just want our dollars ala the gas pump.

99.9 percent of the facts stated in that article made me sick to my stomach. Now my head hurts AND I'm sick to my stomach. I hope and pray, daily, that the pain and suffering will cease, but I believe the poverty and deprivation has actually made those still enslaved impervious to any kindness or rational thought. THEY LIKE IT THAT WAY. They never give up.

I'm to A.D.D. to carry a grudge that long. Grudges are their raison d'etre. Too many crazies, not enough aspirin or anti acid.

Thanks for the article, though.
