Just a little somewhat related story...
My best friend was the nanny to John Denver's children back in the '70's. She's also an excellent baker and brought out a plate of cookies at a party the Denver's were hosting. Ronstadt was there and thoroughly chastised my friend for having the audacity to put such a horror on the table. Of course, Miss Linda then devoured the whole plateful. :)
Yeah - I read that this a.m. but haven't checked if it's on the web yet. Linda was pretty hot back in the 60s and 70s but her music didn't do all that much for me. She could really belt out a Mexican tune but, again, the earlier versions are probably better than hers as with her country, rock, and standards recordings. And the Jerry Brown thing; to borrow a phrase, "it's a turn-off, mannnnn!!"

Singer Linda Ronstadt has cancelled her concerts for the rest of the year after undergoing surgery, according to her agent.
"It wasn't an emergency, but it came about rather quickly, so she decided to do it sooner rather than later, " Shelly Schultz revealed Friday.

I once lived near a family of conservative Republicans. As they drove by in their foreign car with their "support our troops" and BUSH bumper stickers and yellow ribbon I couldn't help but notice their grimaced faces and rigid bodies and I thought, geez, what awful lives these people must lead. Every family member had that same look.
After visiting this website and the critical posts about Linda Ronstadt I really do have to say how sorry I am for you people. You are racked with fear, terror and a hatred of anyone that dissents from your small view of the world. And you actually believe the corporate fascist propaganda you get from the righties who know how to play on your fears and control you so well. Ironically, so many of those that control you are self-hating closeted homosexuals like Rove, right wing preachers and even Bush himself. (ah..you don't believe me then google the words yourself)
You people have made such a mess of things in 6 short years that I don't think you should threaten or be blaming Linda Ronstadt for your own inadequacies. Start taking responsibility for your disgusting actions, your Culture of Death and then maybe you may gain some self-respect.
Pirates of Penzance - yes. She also played in the same role on Broadway.
Years ago I took my mother to NYC where - last minute - we got tickets to see her in the Broadway version. Great seats, second row. She was good.
That trip is one of my favorite memories.
