Illegal immigrant driver's license bill is back (yes, again!)
Sacramento Bee ^ | August 29, 2006 | Aurelio Rojas

Legislation to allow illegal immigrants in California apply for driver's licenses was resurrected Monday in a weakened version that's contingent on federal funding. Senate Bill 1162 by Sen. Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, was approved by Democrats in the Assembly on a 42-34 vote, a week after Democrats derailed its precursor, fearing a voter backlash in November.

The emotionally charged measure still requires confirmation by the state Senate, which passed an earlier version, SB 1160. It also faces a likely veto by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who vetoed similar legislation last year.

Unlike SB 1160, the amended legislation does not require state funding. It would be implemented only after the state receives funding from the federal Real ID Act of 2005, which requires every state to issue licenses that comply with a national standard.

This is the ninth bill that CA state Senator Gil Cedillo has introduced that would permit illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses.

THE MOTOR VOTER BILL (clinton)

A person applying for a drivers license is also handed an application to receive a voter card. It is against the LAW to ask that person if they are an American Citizen!!! the person handling the voter application card must point out the questions to be answered and CAN say something like - fill this out truthfully, or answer the questions truthfully. Other than than, thats all!!!!!

I stood next to a person, back in the 90's in WA, who could not speak english and saw this happening. Later, at the State Fair in Puyallup WA I spoke to a person manning the Register to Vote Booth - they were sick about this.

I would love to be corrected on this!!!!

He's got one term left in the CA Senate. He's already termed out in the Assembly, so if he's not reelected this year, he should be finished. Yeah, we can dream. His Republican opponent in the upcoming election is from my hometown: Mike Ten.

"But Assemblyman Alberto Torrico, D-Newark, said Republicans should deal with the "reality" that illegal immigrants are driving."

I wonder if Torrico would hve the same opinion if the reality were we are NOT going to pay no frickin taxes anymore until all the illegal invaders are deported and driv'in in their own 3rd world country.

Even the Democrats know the public has said NO . And that ought to count for something even in liberal California.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo! )

"Legislation to allow illegal immigrants in California apply for driver's licenses was resurrected Monday..."

What's next? Escaped convicts can apply for licenses? Hey, did you hear?! If you're on the FBI's most wanted list or on the "no fly" list you get fifty percent off the license fee! (sarcasm)

Assemblyman Torrico should deal with the reality that they are driving somewhere they are not legally allowed to be.

The driving isn't the issue.

Same thing in Maryland -- illegals not only get drivers licenses, but they magically become registered as Democrats, too!

Fortunately, the courts just struck down an attempt to allow voting in Maryland over 5 days. Five times as long for the Dem's to round up all the illegals and take them to the polls.

Motor Voter Bill is a FEDERAL BILL. Every State has the same policy.

For all the mistakes Arnold has made, at least he has been strong on this issue. So far. If Angelides gets in the illegals will be driving all over the place.
