state of mind will be a major issue in this case," said public defender Jeff Adachi. Sounds like an islam state of mind to me.

Adachi said Popal has asked for a court-appointed attorney because they can't afford to retain Majeed Samara, the attorney who has represented Popal for the last few days. I guess ROP lawyers do not work pro bono if there is no chance of a big cash payout from the state.

"When the officer went to take the suspect into custody, the suspect threw his car into reverse and smashed one of the police cars. The officer suffered injuries as a result of that," San Francisco Fire Department spokesman Neville Gittens said.
Do these spokesmen go to some kind of class that teaches them how to talk so convolutedly?
Normal people would say, "Popal backed into a police car and injured the officer who was trying to arrest him."

Me: 16 words.
Sheesh.

"Islamofascist" descriptor would have been useful in either case.

There is an army of experts ready to testify in favor of the insanity defense. The script for this one has been written, especially since the perp has had a history of psychiatric care. But the real psychiatric problem from what I've read is the unassimilation of him and his dear family who arranged a marriage for their dear son in Afghanistan. What a country! You can be as Afghani as you want in Fremont, California!
(There is no word 'unassimilation', is there? If you can come up with an antonym for 'assimilation', please do.)

The most intertaining and enjoyable time of my life in a court room as an expert was when I was to testify in a parole revocation hearing and the defendant, the son of a close associate of Edwin Edwards, decided the night before court to have himself committed because he felt suicidal.
We were in the Judges Chamber and the defendants Doctor, on the phone, told the Judge that he couldn't release the patient for some half-baked reason. The Judge told the Doc. I'm sending a Deputy to pick him up, you can have him when I through with him. The Doc protested until the Judge explained that he could come with the Deputy as a guest if he didn't like his decision. I've never seen anyone backpedal as fast as that Doc.

Go crazy back in Afghanistan, we are all stocked up here!

...because he remains A SUDDEN JIHAD SYNDROME PATIENT. Oops, did I suggest a particular theology there?

Only a maniac would become a Muslim in the first place. If being insane gives them a free pass when they commit murder, they are above the laws of the infidels they derive so much pleasure from torturing and murdering. Looks like we of the non-Muslim persuasion are just sh*t out of luck.
