It follows that one of the most sensational charges leveled against the Bush White House -- that it orchestrated the leak of Ms. Plame's identity to ruin her career and thus punish Mr. Wilson -- is untrue. SCOOTER PING -- BIG TIME!!!!

He diverted responsibility from himself and his false charges by claiming that President Bush's closest aides had engaged in an illegal conspiracy. It's unfortunate that so many people took him seriously. Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone at DU a Merry Fitzmas. ;)

Not everyone took Joe Wilson seriously. Many people, including most here at FR, believed all along that the truth was what it ended up being. It wasn't hard to figure out. Those who blamed the White House wanted it to be the White House's fault and let there desire shape their perception of reality. This pattern is observed over and over again among the liberals. They want so much to believe something that conforms to their worldview that eventually it becomes their reality.
To sum up, we were right all along and the Bush-hating left was completely wrong - as we said they were - all along.

Hey WAPO, just because liberals scream and whine that there is a "crime" committed, doesn't mean a crime was committed.
In fact, most, if not all, of what liberals say is made up BS.
Now, when is the WAPO going to apologize to the Duke lacrosse players?

Funny, didn't see anything about this headlining 'The Today Show' this morning as I sipped my coffee and had my nearly morning vomit (my wife has that awful show on).
I'm sure good ole Timmy Russert will be asking tough questions about this this weekend. Like asking all the liberals if they're going to apologize to the administration. Can't wait!

Why does it matter what Richard Armitage's "motives" were? I thought "outing" Valerie was the crime of the century - why isn't this guy being frog-marched out of State and indicted??

Unaware that Ms. Plame's identity was classified information, Mr. Armitage reportedly passed it along to columnist Robert D. Novak "in an offhand manner, virtually as gossip," according to a story this week by the Post's R. Jeffrey. Yeah ... Armitage is just a big ol' fuzz ball type of guy ... no harm meant, just passing on some idle gossip. Yet this same rag ... when they were attributing the Plame leak to senior WH sources were gnashing their teeth in a frenzy of fury.
This editorial in the Washington Post signals reality has set in ... we now must put all this behind us and move on ... rest assured little, or nothing more on the Plame story will grace the pages of this liberal rag.

WE'RE RELUCTANT to return to the subject of former CIA employee Valerie Plame because becuse we were sooo wrong, AGAIN. I would have preferred a headline simply saying: We apologize, we were wrong, Joe Wilson was to blame all along.

I look forward to the Wilsons dismissing their lawsuit.

"Nevertheless, it now appears that the person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame's CIA career is Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson chose to go public with an explosive charge, claiming -- falsely, as it turned out -- that he had debunked reports of Iraqi uranium-shopping in Niger and that his report had circulated to senior administration officials. He ought to have expected that both those officials and journalists such as Mr. Novak would ask why a retired ambassador would have been sent on such a mission and that the answer would point to his wife. He diverted responsibility from himself and his false charges by claiming that President Bush's closest aides had engaged in an illegal conspiracy. It's unfortunate that so many people took him seriously."

Who knows--maybe they will next issue an apology for the global cooling media scares of the 1970s and the global warming media scares of the 1990s and 2000s...to be followed by an editorial explaining how moderate tobacco use lowers stress and increases life expectency.
