What really iced the whole 9/11 cake for me is that I know a guy who was in the second building to get hit. He was ten years younger than I and was a friend of my little brother. On time I baby-sat for my brother, this guy and another kid when they wanted to camp out on the beach. they -- gasp! -- smoked CIGARETTES! But I'd known him since he was like 5 or 6.
And his wife was pregnant on 9/11.
NOT a good thing. Anyway, that's how I got into the reserves in my sheriff's office, then into search and rescue, and disaster preparedness, and why I'm taking EMT classes. I want to be there if it happens again, I want to be ready to help, and I want to get me a terrorist or two, if I can.

Sometimes when people say "life is not fair" - I think, not its not and I am glad. For the most part we have such easy rides. These people have suffered.

...and there were some bad men and they set afire to the building that your daddy worked in and then came along some Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen and they were mad and all the bad men had to be re-potty trained.
