Walter Reed Vigil - 1 Sep(Audio at the End)

On Friday, Tropical Storm Ernesto and I went to Walter Reed. Emily baked some homemade Cinnabon for the troops and the kids made some cards. I also took Anissa and Hannah with me.

While there, we met again with SFC Norris Galatas. My main purpose for going was to speak with the Command Sergeant Major of the hospital about the treatment that Norris got after his last surgery. He was treated very rough and it was uncalled for. When we arrived, Janis (his wife) took my daughters to go feed the fish and spend some time away. Norris and I sat down and began talking and catching up. Norris is an awesome guy, a fellow southerner. He's an extremely polite soldier. Every time he has to come back to undergo one of these surgical updates he gets upset. He told me that what he wanted most was to put back in Iraq with a full combat load of ammo (210 rounds) and his trusty M4 and just be left alone. In a short amount of time he'd come back black on ammo with the heads of 210 terrorists as payback for what he has to endure.

While we were talking, the Colonel in charge of nursing stopped by. She had heard about the incident and wanted to speak with Norris personally about it. When they were done speaking, I introduced myself and told her why I was there. She assured us both that she would address the problem and do her best to prevent any future painful events. I was very impressed that she took the time to go there. 99% of the time, our heroes at Walter Reed are treated with respect and dignity. But, even the nurses can let all the pain and suffering get to them sometimes and do something stupid. (Kat has a great update on Norris HERE)

After awhile, Janis came back with the kids. Janis is a horselover and artist. She has created an awesome coloring book for kids (and adults I guess) of horses that she personally drew. If I can find where the kids put it, I'm going to scan it and show you some.

We said our goodbyes and left the hospital. Even in the pouring wind and grinding rain of Ernesto, the faithful Freepers were out on the corner holding their flags and support placards of support for our soldiers. Sure enough, there were about five members of the peace activist core there at their usual spot down the street.

I had recently read on the Code Pink website about how they were involved in counter-recruitment campaigns across the country. A book was recently published touting reason why NOT to joing the military. I read the excerpt of lies from the book and printed them out to discuss. I also printed out their "What You Should Know Before Joining The Military" propoganda flyer to discourage young Americans from joining the most noble profession in this country. Finally, I printed Patriot's post about his findings of Code Pink's recent "trip" to Jordan. I wanted some answers.

I walked down to their "vigil" (they refuse to call it a protest) to speak with someone from Code Pink. No one would talk to me. As a matter of fact, in standard fashion, they all turned their backs to me as I approached. When I tried to talk with Carrie (sp?) from Code Pink, she said she didn't want to talk to me. Instead I was diverted by a man named Bruce. Instead of telling you about all the stupidity surrounding that conversation, why don't you listen to it yourself. These hippy's are the offspring of their hippy turned yuppy parents and products of our liberal run schools and universities. This is nothing new, they caused unheard of death and injury to our troops in Viet Nam .

There is a way to speak out against a war that is wrong, but this is not it . I think they want more casualties to use as ammo against this nation the fools hate .

I had several approach me at a red light when my son was in Iraq and stick his head in my window and it was all I could do to not role up my window on his head .

I don't like the way things are going for our troops either but I would never join them . I do what I can to protect them from harm,like giving to Micheal Savage to get the chains and shackles off them [ and it worked ]. Sending care packs and letters is always welcome .

Thanks for posting this. I am listening to Bruce right now. It's incredible that he is denying that the "vigil" is a Code Pink event, and that he's even involved with Code Pink.

What a liar!

Code Pink started the blood dance at WRAMC, and now (apparently) they are trying to distance themselves from it.

And one more thing. Bruce is the dolt who wrote the "After-Vigil Reports" that are posted on Code Pink's website !!

And now Bruce is trying to distance himself from Code Pink and their website?!
