Dear Senator Sarbanes (Request to become an illegal alien)

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien, and they referred me to you.

My reasons for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If My understanding of the bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, what I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.

I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out. Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of the last five years of income taxes in return for paying a $2000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent return for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005 and I estimated a gross savings of approximately $72,000. After the fine this would yield me a net savings of $70,000.

In addition, I would reap the other benefits of being an illegal alien such as free healthcare, avoidance of paying Social Security taxes, buying automobile insurance, and serving on jury panels, etc.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.

Thank you for your assistance.

This has been floating around in one form or another for a few years now. That doesn't mean it isn't good...just that legislators are most likely already familiar with it.

I would love it if 12 or 15 million US citizens would march into Mexico at the same time and demand services from the Mexican government.

Times 30 Million "Undocumented" American "Migrants"

Next time our "leaders" take recess they need to do a job exchange thing (better terminology fails at present). Those from the NE get to come home to the SW. Those from the NW get to spend the holidays with "their US family" in the SE. And so on.

I couldn't imagine a group more out of touch with the citizenry.

And, of course, we expect OUR president INSIST that our needs, demands and well being be of the utmost importance!

HEY! Know what? Already I'm enjoying my Mexican vacation! ;)

On the face it has merit but reality would have the Representatives merely shunted from one coddled and gated community to another. The primary problem we're suffering from is that politics has become the hobby of bored, rich people who never had any sympathy for the people who helped them get to that position to start with.

I try to support conservative "groundlings" locally, but the Machines almost always run them into the ground through the sheer power of money - not their own, mind you, but that of the Republican's always giving our donations to candidates who don't need it.
