A federal investigation has been launched into the financial dealings of New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez and a nonprofit agency he has helped over the years, sources said.

The U.S. attorney's office has subpoenaed the agency's records pertaining to a house once owned by then-congressman Menendez, sources told NewsChannel 4's Brian Thompson.

Menendez, a Democrat, has denied there was anything wrong with his renting the house to the North Hudson Community Action Corp. for more than $3,000 a month, even as he was working to obtain millions of dollars in federal grant money while he was a congressman

Interesting. New Jersey Democrats seemed to have more than their share of corruption.

takes a while before you read "a democrat". had it been a Republican, Republican" would have been the first word of the headline.

Still, the U.S. attorney's office actually busting a rAT is a good thing, but oh so many, and much bigger fish need to be fried.

Excellent. Kean, Jr. is getting in better and better shape by the day. And with Cantwell's new troubles in Washington we may yet see McGavick get back into the race (today Leip's Atlas is reporting that Rasmussen has a 17 point lead for Cantwell in the premium section, but that was before her scandal broke)

As Yogi, who is also from Jersey, would say this is deja vu all over. Unfortunately there is only one Frank Lousenberg to take the job. The voters in NJ are so stupid they would probably elect McGreedy or Florio.

a financial investigation into a New Jersey Senator's coffers....how unique.

guess he didn't work his part of the deal, so someone "dropped a dime". Senator's don't wind up in the trunk of a sinking Buick enviormental concerns you know, they'd rather have him around to pay off his debts...he's still useful.

I don't like Democrats, but I'm not sure where there is a crime in this case. Grandstanding prosecutors are just as corrupt as Democrats.

"New Jersey Democrats seemed to have more than their share of corruption."

Voluption too, if only in the eye of the beholder. Disgraced former Governor, Jim McGreevey seems to have found men friends voluptious.

Oh, drat! We seem to forget the required suspension of investigations of criminal behavior of politicians until they have been safely reelected.
