It doesn't take much for people to be stupid.Or perhaps this is about the same number that have always been killed (for food or sport) but it wasn't sufficient human-bashing news until after Irwin bought the croc farm.

It all started when the Stingrays converted to Islam.

There are times when surf fishing that all I catch are rays. If I don't kill them getting the hook out I grab them by the tail and test their aerodynamic properties as I reintroduce them to their natural environment.

Bay Scallops are skate wings. They are punched out in a scallop shape. Ocean scallops are the real thing. They are much larger. I worked seafood in a few supermarkets through the years.

Thanks for the info. Too bad some have taken to killing these creatures. After all, it isn't as if the stingray was out of it's element and attacked on land.
Somehow this does not seem the proper way to honor Irwin.

We would bring them to shore, hold their rays down by any means and just cut the line. They are very sturdy and can take quite a bit of abuse. Their faces are so spooky!
