These people are chopping their tails off. The tails don't grow back. I don't know how well they survive without them, unfortunately people who do this to them leave them to die on the beach so they never have a chance anyway.
My mom once came across a fishman who had cut a ray's tail off and left it to die right next to him and gave him a piece of her mind. He was abashed.

Good for your mom!
When I lived in south Texas and would go to the gulf coast to fish. Frequently you would catch a sting ray. Now these arent the big fellows that killed Steve..they are small perhaps twelve inches wide...but essentially they are the same creature. Whenever we caught one we cut off the tail and left the sting ray out on the beach to die.
Why? Because people (like my uncle for example) step on them out in the surf and get the barb left in their leg. The pain is excrutiating for an adult let alone for a child even for one of these smaller creatures.
I like nature as much as the next person. But in my world people come first. I dont hesitate to shoot a rattler and I dont object to leaving sting rays on beaches to die.

Mosquitos are annoying, cockroaches are just gross.
I want to rid the world of annoyance, so my short list is probably:
1) Mosquitos
2) Liberals
3) Cockroaches
Of course that's probably going to be difficult since their tiny brains and rudimentary nervous systems make them immune to most pesticides; and it is speculated that they can even survive a nuclear blast.
(I'm talking about the Liberals)
Unfortunately my scruples prevent me from saying exactly what I think of that.
AKA klanfish.
Yeah ... but that could be due to a different type of immaturity. I wouldn't chalk it up to political issues - partly yes, but not primarily.

Mine don't. Cartan, why would you kill a rattler just because it's a rattler? I mean, I could see it if there was no way to get away without being bitten, but to kill a rattler just becuse it's a snake makes about as much sense as muslims killing non-muslims for not being muslim.
I have never encountered that, but have certainly eaten skate wings at restaurants. They're very good, but were not advertised as being anything other than what they were.

You can read the discussion section if you want more evidence.
the wanton killing of the rays is just the INGFANTILE reaction to a fools death by stupidity.
They should have at least cooked them!
Spookie! Kind of like Casper with gills!
I dont much give rats you know what what you think of it.
My point was that rattlers should be allowed to exist without changing their biting habits just as rays should be allowed to live with their barbs. I've just never understood killing an animal for the sake of killing it. If you're gonna eat it, fine, but otherwise let them be. BTW, rattlesnake is mighty tasty!
IIRC, a guy at a stingray center in the US said that they trim them like we would trim a fingernail. They regrow, and then get trimmed again.
That's ok, I don't care much about the opinions of the pig-ignorant.
If mosquitos were eradictaed. Dragon Flies would starve, and die off, too. The DF Larvae prey upon the wiggly mosquito larvae. Must maintain a balance, you know...........
