Thanks for my new tag line, now I just need to find out who in the 14th century the Pope was quoting!

One big difference Pope JPII met with his would be assassin in jail and forgave him. Mohammed would have beheaded him in front of all to see. That is the difference between Christianity and Islame
In a nutshell: Jesus HEALED. MoHammed INJURED. Jesus LOVED. Mohammed HATED. Christianity preaches love and forgiveness. Islam preaches hate and destruction.

Well, the MSM are a bunch of limp-wristed metrosexual imbeciles. But I love hearing the Pope telling it like it is!

While I'm not catholic i am a christian and aware that it's going to come down to us or them, reguardless of religion.
It's becoming clear to me that millions will lie dead before this is over.
Let's just make sure it's millions of them not us.

I have a suspicion there is already one out on him.
Bigger question is what will happen when the EU adopts Sharia law.

Muslim leaders in Pakistan, Morocco and Kuwait, in addition to those in Germany and France, also criticized the popes remarks, with many demanding an apology or clarification...
All the clarification we need: Mohammed's Koran -- Jesus' New Testament

Thank you, Livius, for that succinct, straightforward and cogent summary of the Pope's address.
For those of us who read, that's fine.
But I hope you know how to draw pictures - even stick figures - for the imbeciles at the New York Times not to mention the aggrieved Muslims!
One other point, according to one published report (TIME), the Pope said "I quote" and repeated "I QUOTE" to make it clear that he was setting forth SOMEONE ELSE'S view of Islam (in this case, someone from medieval times).
The media never cease to amaze with their inability to NOT GET IT.
Thank you again for such a clear posting!

Friday, the Muslim day of prayer in which grievances are often vented publicly. Have we found the Islamic roots of Festivus?

You're right, of course, and even a cursory scan of the address makes that quite clear.
But doing such minimal research is beyond the ability of the N.Y. Times, apparently.

B16 is bringing that Fatima prophecy to mind again. The one about the Pope and his people being under attack by fiends with arrows. If Europe should fall, God forbid, the Vatican would be abolished by sunset.
Until lately, such things were beyond the realm of possibility. When I was a teen, and first heard talk of end times and the last pontiff, it seemed utterly impossible that even the communists would attempt to extinguish the Church. Now there are people whom one can imagine doing just that.

"Gee, if Muslims spent a fraction of the time being aggrieved over real atrocities..."
Your error is in assuming that the followers of the religion of peace have any interest in making the world a better place.
They want to drag us back to the 700's when they were kings and we were lapdogs. Unfortunately, I'm not sure we have the same fortitude that they had back then. They understood what evil was, we do not.
