WHO-TV September 7th, 2006--A report released by the Polk County Medical Examiner says that 18-year-old Matthew Stegman died from multiple stab wounds. He also suffered blunt force trauma to the head, arms, and chest. Now police say his murder may be tied to some sort of devil worship. Des Moines Police Sergeant Todd Dykstra said, "What investigators believe or know is that some type of ritual was performed prior to the homicide." That ritual was possibly performed by the five people police arrested and charged with first degree murder. All five were arrested at the same Des Moines apartment building earlier this week. Police wouldn't disclose if it waswhat they found or what suspects told them that lead them to believe this homicide could be tied to satanic worship. They also would not elaborate on the details of the ritual. Police did say the five people in custody planned to lure Stegman to the cemetery. Friends of Matt Stegman said they knew the five alleged killers and they said they even heard some of them talk about devil worship in the past. But they said Stegman, however, was not involved in any of that.

There is a world of difference between Wicca and Satanism. But there are many flavors of each.
Which article is that from? Oh, this article:
Family, friends gather to mourn teen's death

jimmy! How is it not related to satan??? obviously, what these kids were partisapating in wasn't good...it was evil. satan is evil. granted you dont have to dress up in dark clothes to be a satanist, but if you look at what they were doing and what they were saying...it kindda adds up. think about it
Exactly. Equating Wiccans with Satanists is just like comparing Christians to Islamists.
There are a lot of different types of each. There are some "Satanists" that don't believe in Satan at all. These are the Anton Levey types that just really hate Christianity and like rituals and wish there was some being on the other end to answer them. These are hated by the Setian Satanists that believe in a real Satan. Then there are the heavy metal teens near Halloween who entertain the thought of calling themselves Satanists for a month or then drop it all and get back to their resturaunt jobs. Then there are nuts.
not only are they satanists, they belong to a cult-like organization loosely based on the mafia of the sixties. it's a little scary when you think of the number of twenty- and thirty-somethings running around des moines proclaiming themselves princes of the city when they can't even hold a job.
they all went on trial on the eleventh of december
How about judging an entire religion by a whole lot of its best adherents?
I know it's been a while since this has happened but I came across it and thought I'd add my humble opinion. I live in Des Moines and I knew Sheri Fisher a little bit. My boyfriend had the unfortunate experience of dating her. I can safely say that she was 100% the most ignorant person I have ever met. If you told her you were Wiccan, she'd say she was totally into it. If you told her you were Satanic, hey, she'd say she was into that too. She called the cops and somewhat filed a phony report on me and my boyfriend and I had to nicely tell her to keep my name out of her mouth. Her ignorance and genuine stupidity led her to get involved with a group of people that I really don't like to consider human. They were NOT Wiccan, they pretty much just went with whatever they felt would shock people. Truth is they give good Wiccans a bad name. I'm not Wiccan but I would NEVER judge someone who is based on these people. They'll get what they deserve. Just thought I'd add that. Thanks.
You're more inclined toward proper grammar than Insiders usually are.
(And for the record, Wicca is a faux religion and pretty stupid to boot.)
