There is a world of difference between Wicca and Satanism. But there are many flavors of each.

From the article: Reported friends of the group have described talk of sacrificing Stegman as part of a "Lucifarious" ritual. ...Which article is that from? Oh, this article:
Family, friends gather to mourn teen's death

Wicca has nothing at all to do with worshipping Satan. Only ignorant fools think so.
Some of those ignorant fools are on this thread. Also, however, some of those ignorant fools are probably these Iowa kids. Some messed up young people think Wicca and Satanism and simply wearing black clothes, doing lots of drugs, meeting in cemeteries, and sometimes even killing acquaintances are all the same thing.

jimmy! How is it not related to satan??? obviously, what these kids were partisapating in wasn't good...it was evil. satan is evil. granted you dont have to dress up in dark clothes to be a satanist, but if you look at what they were doing and what they were saying...it kindda adds up. think about it

Exactly. Equating Wiccans with Satanists is just like comparing Christians to Islamists.

There are a lot of different types of each. There are some "Satanists" that don't believe in Satan at all. These are the Anton Levey types that just really hate Christianity and like rituals and wish there was some being on the other end to answer them. These are hated by the Setian Satanists that believe in a real Satan. Then there are the heavy metal teens near Halloween who entertain the thought of calling themselves Satanists for a month or then drop it all and get back to their resturaunt jobs. Then there are nuts.
To: MockTurtle
not only are they satanists, they belong to a cult-like organization loosely based on the mafia of the sixties. it's a little scary when you think of the number of twenty- and thirty-somethings running around des moines proclaiming themselves princes of the city when they can't even hold a job.
they all went on trial on the eleventh of december

Should we judge an entire religion by a few of its worst adherents ??? How about judging an entire religion by a whole lot of its best adherents?

I know it's been a while since this has happened but I came across it and thought I'd add my humble opinion. I live in Des Moines and I knew Sheri Fisher a little bit. My boyfriend had the unfortunate experience of dating her. I can safely say that she was 100% the most ignorant person I have ever met. If you told her you were Wiccan, she'd say she was totally into it. If you told her you were Satanic, hey, she'd say she was into that too. She called the cops and somewhat filed a phony report on me and my boyfriend and I had to nicely tell her to keep my name out of her mouth. Her ignorance and genuine stupidity led her to get involved with a group of people that I really don't like to consider human. They were NOT Wiccan, they pretty much just went with whatever they felt would shock people. Truth is they give good Wiccans a bad name. I'm not Wiccan but I would NEVER judge someone who is based on these people. They'll get what they deserve. Just thought I'd add that. Thanks.

You're more inclined toward proper grammar than Insiders usually are.
(And for the record, Wicca is a faux religion and pretty stupid to boot.)

Did you ever stop to think that the reason the family did not respond to interviews was because the county attorney asked them not to or perhaps they wanted their privacy to grieve the loss of one of their children who after speaking with on the phone only two days before had been brutally murdered? No I guess not, I guess up there on your high pedestal you can't think like that. Who gives you the right to judge the parents of Matthew Stegman or any other family anyway? I could sit here and try to figure you out, but alas, I cannot get my head up my ass that far! How dare you dredge up anything about Matt. Let that poor boy rest in peace. He did nothing wrong and was murdered because five evil people took his life. And to clear something else up, he had no children, the media got that wrong too. So now every birthday and holiday there is an empty chair and reminder that he is no longer around to celebrate with his family that misses him everyday. And look what he was cheated out of in his life. No wife and family of his own, he will not get to see his old sister with her family which continues to grow and flourish, he will never see his younger sisters and brother graduate from high school, get married and have children. And what of his parents, who grieve daily for him, but especially his mother, who grief is unbareable. No I guess you couldn't understand that could you? Why don't you just crawl back under the slimy little rock that you somehow crawled out from under and mind your own darn business. Me, as a Christian, I will pray for you. Because, Lord knows, you need as much help as you can get!
