Why am I not surprised?

I saw/heard the president’s address to the U.N. on C-Span this morning. I also heard the speeches of Secretary General Annan, the President of the General Assembly (Al Khalifa), and the President of Brazil (Da Silva), all of whom preceded Bush.

It's not surprising that a Muslim is now the President of the General Assembly, since the U.N. is now entirely controlled by the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Until now, I had never witnessed the proceedings on the floor of the U.N. for any length of time, and, despite my loathing of that body as the most prominent reason for the global spread of Marxism and the emboldening of terrorism, I still found myself incensed at what I saw and heard. I literally felt in need of a shower after turning off the television -- as if I had spent the morning in a toxic waste dump.

Other than making token and hypocritical reference to the value of freedom and excellence (both of which the villainous world body disdains), every speech leading up to the president's extolled the value of, and the pressing need for, the working people of the world to give up (at the point of a gun, if need be, although that remained unsaid) a large portion of the fruits of their labor for the 'disadvantaged' of the world.

That's it. That's what the U.N. of 2006 stands for -- redistribution of wealth and prosperity, at the point of a gun, if need be (and, it goes without saying, the destruction of the state of Israel, although that, too, remained unspoken).

I am not an unabashed fan of the president. But, as I saw and heard him speaking to that malevolent body, I became acutely aware of the fact that America's days are numbered. That the rest of the world is seeking to build a future that is in direct and violent contrast to the vision of America's Founders. And that our leadership in Washington either (1) hasn't a clue as to how to go about preserving the American vision against the vile madmen who see it as their destiny to annihilate it, or (2) prefers to indirectly ally themselves with the madmen.

I'm afraid we live in a violent, unjust world -- perhaps moreso than at any time in the history of mankind. And this morning when I saw and heard leaders of virtually every nation on the globe gathered together planning how best to foist upon what remains of the free world their often violent vision of the ultimate worldwide socialist utopia ... and I heard the American president speaking to them as if his words had any hope of piercing their arrogant, powerful, self-serving armor ... I became indescribably sad for us all. They haven't any use for us, other than to plunder from us the hard-won rewards of our two-plus centuries of historically unparallelled liberty-based prosperity … so as to use their ill-gotten gains to see their new-world agenda to its contemptible end. And (mark my word), barring a miracle, or a dramatic change in the resolve of the free world, they will.

There is a glimmer of hope. At this moment, we still have the power. But there is only a small window in which to act. We must act now.

The islamofascist terrorists may have overplayed their hand. This war, 9/11, their nakedly subhuman acts, have roused at least some of us from our slumber.

The first thing we must do is purge DC of the professional politicians. They are self-serving and mediocre by definition. If we ever needed excellence in our leadership, it is now....

And of course we have plenty of political dross installed in Washington all too willing to embrace and advance the same facist/socialist agenda. Mia T is right--"The first thing we must do is purge DC of the professional politicians." Rats and RINOs.

One thing the UN (and Washington) might want to remember: we still have the guns.

But, with each passing day, the task of ‘purging DC’ seems more hopeless. Working behind our backs, behind closed doors, and pretty much in the dark, they’ve largely succeeded in making our input into government of, by and for the people relatively insignificant. How tragically oxymoronic is that!

We individual Americans have less and less power to institute change, as a result of the unprecedented clout enjoyed by the mass media (despite the dent in their omnipotence that the internet has provided), technological progress, laws that have been passed (‘Campaign Finance Reform’ chief among them) whose major focus is to silence the voice of the individual in the political process, the gargantuan power of special interest groups and lobbyists, and the general unconstitutional over-reaching power that the state now has in all of our lives and liberties -- even down to issues of what we may say, and when and where we may say it.

If ever there were the incremental imposition of tyranny without a drop of blood being shed, I believe we may already be in the midst of it.

With all of that said, thanks for you tireless efforts to buck the apathy trend and get the word out in spite of our largely unaccountable, self-appointed government/media censors and propaganda ministers. If we’re ever going to be successful wresting power from the scoundrels, that blessed day will come entirely as the result of modern day patriots who will not be silenced.

I believe we can defeat the tyrants quite easily, actually.

We must field citizen-politicians of the highest caliber. As envisioned by the founders, the citizen-politicians would ''lend'' their expertise to government and then return to private life. The culture of access, influence and self-interest--and with it, the tyranny--would literally disappear overnight.

With their obvious excellence and assisted by the new technology, the citizen-politician would easily bypass the stacked system to capture the imagination -- and votes -- of the masses.

By purging DC of the professional politician and returning to the idea of the citizen-politician, we would break the power-and-corruption cycle. Post-9/11, we no longer have the luxury of time or circumstance to abide that nonsense.

Speaking of which, Dick Morris reports today in the New York Post that missus clinton's net worth grew from as little as $352K in 2003 to as much as $50M in 2005.

Morris writes, "What caused the jump? It might have been Dubai."

That was Tuesday (right after his speech) - today is Friday.
Being a little on the passionate side, my initial reactions are usually toward one extreme or the other - most personality traits have upsides and downsides.
I had even tempered my remarks by Wednesday morning.
