I don't know about MLK but the KKK thing isn't exactly an accusation, it's a fact.

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican, a claim challenged by civil-rights researchers... Challenged by researchers? You mean, it may be true?! Heee!

I don't know If he was a registered republican but he did back Eisenhower. If I remember correctly I believe he was an Democratic Socialist actually. The Klan statement is 100% though.

"The Dems have historically been the racist party..." True; but then, dealing with truth isn't their strong suit.

The KKK, never a political party, was a racist group of white men that started in the South after the Civil War, when Republicans were almost unheard of in former Confederate states. The mainstream Democratic Party never endorsed the Klan nor claimed to have founded it. Let's ask Senator Byrd what he knows about this.
Bull Connor - democrat
George Wallace - democrat
Lester Maddox - democrat
October 13, 1858 During Lincoln-Douglas debates, U.S. Senator Stephen Douglas (D-IL) states: I do not regard the Negro as my equal, and positively deny that he is my brother, or any kin to me whatever; Douglas became Democratic Partys 1860 presidential nominee.
April 16, 1862 President Lincoln signs bill abolishing slavery in District of Columbia; in Congress, 99% of Republicans vote yes, 83% of Democrats vote no.
April 8, 1865 13th Amendment banning slavery passed by U.S. Senate with 100% Republican support, 63% Democrat opposition.
September 3, 1868 25 African-Americans in Georgia legislature, all Republicans, expelled by Democrat majority; later reinstated by Republican Congress.
October 7, 1868 Republicans denounce Democratic Partys national campaign theme: This is a white mans country: Let white men rule
January 17, 1874 Armed Democrats seize Texas state government, ending Republican efforts to racially integrate government
September 14, 1874 Democrat white supremacists seize Louisiana statehouse in attempt to overthrow racially-integrated administration of Republican Governor William Kellogg; 27 killed
January 15, 1901 Republican Booker T. Washington protests Alabama Democratic Partys refusal to permit voting by African-Americans
February 12, 1909 On 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincolns birth, African-American Republicans and womens suffragists Ida Wells and Mary Terrell co-found the NAACP
Need I continue?

It's amazing how few black people know the roots of the RNC in the abolition movement. Not to mention they don't know the KKK was an activist wing of the DNC.
