U.S. fatalities in war equal those from Sept. 11

U.S. fatalities in war equal those from Sept. 11 - Military deaths in Iraq, Afghanistan reach 2,973

WASHINGTON - Now the death toll is 9/11 times two.

U.S. military deaths from Iraq and Afghanistan now match those of the most devastating terrorist attack in America’s history, the trigger for what came next. Add casualties from chasing terrorists elsewhere in the world, and the total has passed the Sept. 11 figure.

The latest milestone for a country at war comes without commemoration. It also may well come without the precision of knowing who is the 2,973rd man or woman of arms to die in conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, or just when it happens. The terrorist attacks killed 2,973 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Not for the first time, war that was started to answer death has resulted in at least as much death for the country that was first attacked, quite apart from the higher numbers of enemy and civilians killed, too.

The liberal news media has been anxiously waiting for this milestone and it has finally arrived: The deaths suffered while fighting the War on Terror have finally equaled the deaths of 9/11.

In a tone designed to demoralize the American Home Front, the article starts out, "Now the death toll is 9/11 times two."

To put things in historical perspective, at the end of World War Two, the death toll was Pearl Harbor times one hundred and seventy four.

Or put another way: it took 5 years and 11 days for the number of casualties in the War in Iraq to equal the number of casualties in 90 minutes on 9-11-01.

And what's the ratio of terrorist scumbag fatalities relative to the 19 that died on Sept. 11?

To the liberal MSM: the difference is you and I are still living in a democracy and not in a Islamic(-fascistic) world...

Well, media weasel, since you're so interested in keeping your grim ledger, let's look at it another way. On 9/11, some 18 ragheads died, and took 3,000 innocent Americans with them. Those Americans died in offices and hallways and bathrooms and lobbies and elevators and stairwells.

Since then, well over 50,000 vermin have died, against those 3,000 American deaths. And the latter died in bunkers, trenches, Humvees, tanks, and barracks, patrolling a hostile land in the line of duty. And all so ANOTHER 3,000 Americans WON'T have to die in offices and hallways and stairwells.

We have succeeded in removing the asymmetry of this engagement.

Wars cost lives. Surrender costs more.

The total death count in Iraq does not equal the total homicide rate in any five major cities in America in the same period.

It is utterly meaningless to compare the number of Americans murdered on 9/11 with the number of soldiers that have died since in the War on Terror.

The juxtaposition is simply devoid of any logic or rational point of common comparison.

What WOULD BE meaningful would be to consider the number of Americans who very well might have been killed here at home, had President Bush not launched his relentless offensive.

What makes utter sense to anyone with a grasp of reality and human nature, is to continue to keep the muzzle of our guns in the faces of these scum in their OWN fetid sewer.

"Within 10 minutes of the ramps being lowered, [the leading] company had become inert, leaderless and almost incapable of action. Every officer and sergeant had been killed or wounded... It had become a struggle for survival and rescue". The division lost over 4000 casualties. ----- World War II / Omaha Beach

For more historical perspective, on 1 July 1916, the opening day of the Battle of Somme, the British army suffered 57,470 casualties which included 19,240 killed.

A little historical perspective:

D day Allied killed 2500

Antietam total killed 3650

Gettysburg " " 5600

Somme first day British " " 19200

Every US death in Iraq is a tragedy to his friends family and comrades. But from a historical perspective our loses in Iraq have been amazingly light. If we can't handle this a nation, we are really a paper tiger.

And it took 5 years for professionally trained armed soldiers fighting terrorists, while in a span of less than 45 minutes we lost the same amount of unarmed civilians whom had little chance to defend themselves.

To you liberal crying donks out there that slither through these threads, yeah we are really losing the war on terror and we should retreat. * sarcasm off.

Even counting the souls who died on 9/11 as murder victims (they are NOT considered homicides in FBI crime statistics), the NYC homicide rate during the Giuliani (R) administration was still lower than it was during the previous Dinkins (D) administration.
